Chancellor Andrew Jones Resigns His Post
The Board of Trustees of the Coast Community College District announced that Dr. Andrew C.
Jones, Chancellor of the District resigned from his position effective August 15, 2014.
Mary Hornbuckle, President of the Board of Trustees, said “I speak for the Board in saying that
we accept Dr. Jones’ decision to resign with gratitude for his commitment to student success.
Dr. Jones brought the college safely through some of the worst budget cuts in history and led the
District through a successful bond campaign and a challenging accreditation process. We are
grateful for his service and wish him well in his future endeavors.”
Dr. Jones noted that the decision was personal and professional. “I have very much enjoyed
working with an amazing team of professionals dedicated to ensuring the success of our students.
The three colleges in the Coast District are all premiere institutions that will continue to provide
quality, affordable higher education to our community and I am proud to have been a part of it. I
look forward to spending more time with my family and will miss my colleagues but know they
will continue to ensure that Coast Colleges remain among the best.”
Dr. Andrew C. Jones was appointed to lead the District in August of 2011. Under his leadership
the District passed a $690-million bond initiative, implemented integrated student success
initiatives, and created a regional CEO task force dedicated to leveraging the incredible resources
of community colleges throughout Orange County.
“The Coast Team has accomplished so much,” noted Dr. Jones, “but I am most proud of their
daily commitment to ensure that our students are provided the best education possible.”
“I am grateful to the Board of Trustees whose support has been essential to our many successes,”
Dr. Jones continued. “It has been a great privilege to serve the District and an honor to serve
with my colleagues.”
The Board of Trustees will meet next week to discuss the appointment of an interim chancellor.

County coastline. The district is comprised of Coastline Community College headquartered in
Fountain Valley, Golden West College in Huntington Beach and Orange Coast College in Costa
Mesa.
