Graduate Student Co-Convenor for the UF Digital Humanities Working Group (UF DHWG) The UF Digital Humanities Working Group (UF DHWG) offers the opportunities for Graduate Students to volunteer to serve as Co-Convenor for two years, taking part in the decision-making, coordinating, and managing all DHWG activities and events including the annual UF Digital Humanities Day and THATCamp-Gainesville. The Co-Convenors plan, coordinate, and implement the regular DHWG Meet-Up events, trainings, speakers, and other activities while also serving as expert cultural travelers who make connections across departments and different campus and other connected communities for supporting digital humanities collaboration, the UF Digital Humanities Graduate Certificate, public humanities, and related initiatives. The Graduate Student Co-Convenor works closely with the other Co-Convenors from the Center for the Humanities & the Public Sphere and the Libraries, participating in the DHWG Meet-Ups, trainings, and other events, as well as conducting outreach, facilitating conversations, and helping to bring together and connect various interested people and groups through the DHWG for purposes including enhanced scholarly inquiry, academic research, professionalization, building communities of practice and scholarly research communities, curriculum development and delivery, and more. Specifically, the Graduate Student Co-Convenor for the DHWG is expected to: Attend and Co-Convene DHWG events, as scheduling allows Co-Convene the event and conference team supporting THATCamp-Gainesville Participate on the DHWG email list Serve as a contact for interested people and groups across UF’s campus, and connected groups, for concerns relating to the digital humanities Collaboratively plan and implement updates and changes for the DHWG website, Twitter presence, Graduate Student Co-Convenor role, DHWG Meet-Up activities and formats, THATCamp-Gainesville, and other programmatic, project, and event activities and structures As applicable and interested, lead or assist with instruction sessions and workshops At the end of the service period, orient the new Graduate Student Co-Convenor and introduce the new Graduate Student Co-Convenor to the DHWG email list Pursue, as interested, involvement in other groups include the DH Graduate Certificate, the DH Library Group, the Public Humanities Group, and others to be part of the broader conversations and to encourage cross-pollination between various groups Minimum Requirements: Knowledge about and/or interest in digital scholarship; a good attitude and professional demeanor; and willingness to work independently and collaboratively. Candidates must be graduate students in the Humanities or Arts. The Co-Convenors are actively working to secure ongoing funding in recognition of the importance of this role and the work required of the role, as well as the importance of monetary payment for work done. Funds are being sought to support the Graduate Student Co-Convenor for one or more of the following and others: travel to DH event(s), applying for the HASTAC Scholars Program, and for full internship funding.
