Good morning, I want to welcome you to our 9:00 a.m. worship experience...
I appreciate you working with us to launch it and want to encourage you to invite
someone to church next week.
Next Week is our Kidsfest...
This morning we are beginning the series Revolution.
Throughout history there have been many revolutions.
There was the French Revolution... where the people of France started a civil war
against the French monarchy... France had high unemployment, food shortages, housing
problems, people were living in filthy conditions... The people wanted to bring change...
The French monarchy was overthrown...
In Russia there was revolution. The Bolshevik’s or communist’s overthrew the
imperialist government...
In America we had a revolution... Where 13 colonies came together to overthrow a
Monarchy... and become an independent republic.
Each revolution began with a counterculture rising up. A group of people who had ...
just had enough...
And they saw that there was a need for change!
All revolutions are not necessarily bloody.... There have been other movements
within the culture protesting through non-violent means to bring change...
The countercultures that surface and want change were considered radicals. Their
leaders were considered revolutionaries...
When we hear the word radical... revolutionary, or revolution... we tend think of these
terms as something negative.
But the truth is... there is a time and place for radical people... there is a time and place
for revolutionaries, and there is a time and place when the world needs Revolution.
I believe that we are living in that time and place.
So we are going to begin this morning by defining three words:
Radical-- fundamental, extreme, cutting to the root of an issue
Revolutionary-- one who constitutes and brings about rapid change
Revolution-- a sudden, radical, and complete change; the over-throw or renunciation of one
ruler or government and substitution of another by the governed.

According to these definitions Jesus was a radical, revolutionary, and brought
revolution to earth...
 As a radical... He came to earth with one fundamental cause... He came to restore what
God originally intended for man.
 Jesus was also extreme and cut to the root of issues. He confronted religion... He
confronted and exposed the hearts of men... He cut to the root and exposed the sin
condition of man.
 He was also a revolutionary... He was one who brought rapid change...
 He brought revolution.... He overthrew the Kingdom of this world, and ushered in a new
kingdom...
 So don’t let words throw you off... Thank God that Jesus came and brought Revolution!
 This morning message is “Revolution of Kingdoms”...
 Remember what Revolution is... a sudden, radical, and complete change; the overthrow of one ruler or government and substitution of another by the governed.
 Why did Jesus come to bring Revolution?
 God’s Kingdom... that was established on earth... was Lost...
1. When God created Adam and placed him in Eden, God was bringing His Kingdom Rule
to earth.
Gen. 1:26-28 (NLT) “Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like
ourselves. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the
wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.” So God
created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and
female he created them. Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the
earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals
that scurry along the ground.”

When Adam and Eve were created... they were created in the image of God. What does
that mean?
The very life of God was breathed into Adam and Eve’s being. This is important...
When they were created their lives were in union and harmony with God...
Their lives were filled with God’s character and nature.
God’s purpose for the earth was Adam and Eve’s purpose for the earth...
Since God created all things and owned all things... He gave Adam authority to reign
and govern the earth.
So God gave them dominion over every living thing.
Here we see a Kingdom... God’s Kingdom that was established on earth....
God blessed Adam and Eve and told them to reproduce and populate the earth.

Because sin had not entered... this population of Adam and Eve’s offspring would be a
people that would be in union with God, His plans, and purposes.
 The Kingdom of God was established on earth...
2. Adam and Eve sinned and lost the Kingdom.
 What a tragedy that day was...
 The only bullet that Satan had in his gun was deception.
 He had no authority over Adam and Eve.
 He had no jurisdiction over God’s Kingdom on Earth... He could have enlisted every
fallen spirit and they could not have overtaken God’s Kingdom on earth.
 So since He was powerless to overtake it... He used deception to usurp it.
 Eve was deceived... then Adam outright rebelled...
 Both people were enticed by forbidden fruit...
 Both were enticed with the promise of being like God. Sin is deceptive...
 And what got Adam also gets many of us!
 James said it best: (this is what sin does)
James 1:14-15 -- "But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own
lust. Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it
brings forth death."

Adam gave birth to sin out of a lust that was conceived in his heart... That lust or desire
to be like God...
When lust was conceived in his heart he yielded to sin...and his rebellion brought
spiritual death to all men.
So Adam and Eve lost God’s Kingdom on earth...
They lost their union with the source of their lives and therefore experienced “death”.
They lost their intimate fellowship with God. They were now alienated...
They lost their dominion over the earth and transferred it to Satan.
They lost their freedom and became slaves in the kingdom of darkness.
They lost the glory of their righteousness before God. Unrighteous filled their hearts.
What a tragic ending to a glorious beginning!
Thank God that none of this caught the Almighty off guard... He had a plan to bring
Revolution to earth...
One that Satan could not see... One that would overthrow the Kingdom of Darkness and
restore God’s Spiritual Kingdom on earth...
Jesus came to bring Revolution! We see it in His mission...
His Mission
1. Jesus came preaching the Kingdom of God.
 When Jesus came to this earth over two thousand years ago He came and presented
mankind with the most radical and life changing reality in history.
 The Kingdom of God was near...
 Since the fall of Adam... all of mankind lived under the rule of the god of this world.
 Both the Jew and the Gentile lived under the iron fist of the oppressive Roman Empire.
 The Jew lived under the burden of religion, works and impossible standards.
 Satan’s rule was both hard and oppressive...
 People had no hope and saw no possibility of change. They were surrounded constantly
with the shadow of death...
 But in the fulfillment of God’s time... One came and preached revolution to the world.
 It would not be a political revolution won with swords and clubs... As Jesus said at His
own arrest:
Luke 22:52-53 (NLT) “Am I some dangerous revolutionary,” he asked, “that you come with
swords and clubs to arrest me? 53 Why didn’t you arrest me in the Temple? I was there every
day.


The Revolution that Jesus would bring would be a spiritual revolution ushered in by a
spiritual kingdom that would change the hearts of men!
As Jesus began His public ministry... the Kingdom of God was central to His message!
Matt. 4:16-17 (NLT) “the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light. And for those
who lived in the land where death casts its shadow, a light has shined. From then on Jesus
began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”

Jesus mission was simple... turn from your sin and I will show you how to access the
kingdom of God... for it is right here close at hand.”
 What great news that was to the needy, the downcast, the despised, and defeated...
2. Jesus came to restore what Adam lost.
a. Jesus came to restore the God-life that was lost.
1 Cor. 15:45 (NLT) “The Scriptures tell us, “The first man, Adam, became a living person.” But
the last Adam—that is, Christ—is a life-giving Spirit.”
 Where Adam lost the source of His life and died...
 The last Adam restored our life because He is a life-giving spirit.
b. Jesus came to restore fellowship between men and their Creator.
2 Cor. 5:18 (NLT) “And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through
Christ...”
2 Cor. 5:19 (NLT) “For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting
people’s sins against them.”
1Cor. 1:9 (NASB) “God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son,
Jesus Christ our Lord.”
c. Jesus came to restore dominion to His people.
John 14:12-14 (NLT) “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I
have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. 13 You can ask
for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. 14 Yes,
ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!”

He has restored dominion to His Kingdom people... Authority to do in His Name what
He did!
 People who have authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions and all the power of
the enemy.
 Because He has given us a name above all names... One that holds authority in Heaven,
Earth, and beneath the earth!
d. Jesus came to restore freedom to those bound by Satan.
John 8:34-36 (NLT) “Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin. 35
A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever. 36 So
if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.”



If a person is a slave to sin... He has family issues...
Because His sons are not slaves to sin... His sons are free!
How? Because Jesus came to...
1 John 3:8b (NLT) “...But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil.”
e. He came to restore the Glory of Righteousness...
1 Cor. 6:11 (BBE) “And such were some of you; but you have been washed, you have been
made holy, you have been given righteousness in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the
Spirit of our God.”

Jesus restored the God-life that was lost, fellowship, dominion, freedom, and
righteousness that Adam lost.

Jesus brought revolution!
Bottom line: What the first Adam gave away, the Last Adam made a way!
Conclusion:







Jesus emphatically was radical: He cut to the root of the issue... sin...
Jesus was a revolutionary: He initiated and brought about change.
Jesus brought revolution: He over-threw the god of this world and has restored the
Kingdom of God in the hearts of men... He is seated in a place of pre-imminence.
He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Which Kingdom is in you? The kingdom of darkness or the Kingdom of God.
This morning I want you to ask Jesus to bring revolution to your heart... Ask Him to bring
His Kingdom into you life! Eternity is a stake.
You may wonder; how can I enter the Kingdom of God?
John 3:5-6, 14-16 (NLT) “Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God
without being born of water and the Spirit. 6... the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life... the
Son of Man must be lifted up,...15 so that everyone who believes in him will have eternal life.
16 “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone
who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.


Every head bowed, and eyes closed... This is what I want you to do...
Change Kingdoms today... Let the true king rule you heart.
