Employment Descriptions

UPS (3): This position requires someone who likes to be friendly, responsible and who is dependable. The
duties include: Taking attendance every morning; Taking notes to other classrooms; Handling all delivery
responsibilities, getting mail from the office, distributing information and work into students’ mailboxes.
This position may require staying in for recess on Thursdays to complete mail delivery tasks.

Paper Passer (2): This position requires someone who likes to be organized and efficient. The duties
involved include: Passing out papers to each student; collecting papers from each student.

Room organizer (4): This position requires someone who is dependable, neat, clean, and organized. The
duties involved include: Making sure all classroom bins are full of supplies (post-its, crayons, markers,
tape, etc.), making sure all writing utensils are in working order; making sure all supplies have a label;
reporting to Mrs. Egan if any supplies are being misused, wiping down the white boards at the end of
each day, keeping the computer desks, windowsills, and other work areas neat and tidy, helping to
maintain an overall neat, clean, and organized classroom. The responsibilities of this job also include
returning books from our classroom library to the correct place on the shelf and keeping the library
organized.

Computer Techs (2): This position requires patience and an understanding of the way different software
and hardware work in our classroom. The duties involved include: assisting friends in the computer lab
and helping friends troubleshoot. Computer Techs also need to make sure Laptops are plugged in and
charged and all microphones, mice and other accessories are in their proper location.

Custodian* (3): This position requires initiative and drive. The duties involved include taking out the trash,
sweeping the floors and keeping the classroom clean. Each custodian can be in charge of one trash
can to help with the workload. This might be the most important job in the classroom. MUST BE A HARD
WORKER.

Teacher Assistant (2): This position requires honesty, good decision making skills and the ability to lead
his/her peers in the classroom. In the event that Mrs. Egan has to talk with another
teacher/principal/adult during instruction, this student can continue to lead the classroom and clarify
directions. The “Assistant will also assist any substitute in explaining daily routines, procedures, and
helping the substitute become acclimated to our classroom and welcomed. This person will also remind
Mrs. Egan when needed and use the rain stick when given the direction to.

Banker (4): This position requires someone who is trustworthy, is able to count money and is strong with
addition. The Bankers will be in charge of changing money for students on Friday Mornings.

Payroll (2): This position requires someone who is honest and accountable. The duties include paying
students each Friday for completing their classroom jobs each day.

Table Captain (one per team): This position requires someone who feels comfortable asking students to
manage their materials and surrounding areas and who is able to do so in a polite manner. This person
will issue fines at the end of the day to any student who is not keeping their floor and desk up to “code”.
They will tell the payroll department. This position also requires you to check and log in at home reading
minutes for each student. On Friday, you will need to add up the total minutes read and turn in
recording sheet to Mrs. Egan

Police Officer (1 officer per team): This position requires someone who is kind, not bossy, and who always
follows directions. This person will redirect others who need reminders to follow directions. The police
officer will also report any student who is not fulfilling their job responsibilities to the payroll department.

Substitute (2): This position requires someone who is responsible and organized. If a student in our
classroom is out, the Substitute will copy homework, gather materials, and deliver the homework to the
office or a sibling’s classroom. This person will also be responsible for reminding class of what to bring
home for homework and call tables to pack up.

Power Paw writer (1): This position requires someone who is responsible and respectful. This student will
write out power paws at the end of the day for any student who has a blue stick. They will be
responsible for noting what the student earned the power paw for so that they can correctly circle the
themes that apply. They will then give the power paws to Mrs. Egan for her signature.

Bus Call (2): This position would be best for someone who is a later bus and can stay through most of the
bus calls. This person will write the buses that are called and notify students when second call has been
made.

Moving Team (4): This committee will be called upon in times of classroom reorganization and for desk
movement. These students will be responsible for helping to develop a classroom layout and help to
move student desks.

Morning Meeting (2): These students will be responsible for selecting a “morning greeting” for each day
and selecting an “activity” for our morning meeting. Students will be able to reference the Morning
Meetings book to help them plan each day.

Ketchup Board (2): Writes assignments for students who are out of the classroom.

Photographer (2): Takes pictures of activities

All Things Chairs: Makes sure all chairs are up in the afternoon and taken down in the morning.
