PURPOSE: The purpose of this agreement is to provide a basis for mutual participation and understanding between the employer, the student participating in ALDR/AGCM 3910 - Internship in Leadership, and the faculty advisor. Student contact with public or private employers will provide practical experience and application of leadership skills and/or knowledge. The experience will increase the student's appreciation of the application of leadership principles, challenges and practices in a modern work environment, service or community. II. RESPONSIBILITIES: (1) Responsibility for advising students taking ALDR/AGCM 3910 will rest with the faculty advisor. (2) Selection of students to participate in this program will be consistent with the best interests of the student, the College, and the employer. (3) The student will make the necessary arrangements with the employer/supervisor. The assignment must be oriented to the student's area of study. The advisor will approve the working relationship when assured that the employer understands the responsibilities involved and is willing to comply with reporting requirements. (4) The student may participate for a full semester or over several semesters. A minimum of 200 hours are required to earn 3 hours credit. The employer should arrange the work schedule so that the student participates in as broad a range of operations as is practical. Student work experiences will be related to the academic program and, as such, are an extension of classroom experiences. (5) The employer agrees to submit a midterm and final report on the student's performance in the work program and is encouraged to submit any other reports that may seem desirable. (6) The agreement may be terminated when any party notifies the other two parties in writing that he/she wishes to terminate the agreement.
