application in order to be considered for membership. I understand that eligibility does
not guarantee membership. I understand that I must be truthful and forthcoming in the

If chosen to be a member of the National Honor Society, I understand that I must abide
by the constitution of the National Honor Society and the by-laws of the East Lake High
School Chapter. Furthermore, I understand that academic or behavioral misconduct may
cause me to forfeit my membership in the National Honor Society.

Application Essay Topic
Write an essay of 250 words in which you explain what honor looks like in the modern
world. Your essay must be typed in 12 point font, double spaced, and include a word
count. Essays will be judged on the value of the content, originality, and correct use of
English language conventions.
