Project Officer in its Humanitarian Assistance for Women of Afghanistan (HAWA) Program. Those with

JOB SUMMARY
The incumbent of this position is in charge of the overall project livestock activities. She will be the lead and will be
responsible in carrying out the project activities in target communities (Mazar city, Balkh province). The Livestock
project officer will play an active role in the targeted communities to build understanding and support for the
Foundation for Peace Project intervention and will work in close collaboration with the project team. The incumbent
of this position will be in charge of the overall livestock management at the community level in Mazar. This position
is responsible to design, conduct and facilitate basic livestock husbandry training and information to vulnerable
women. She will ensure the project implementation activities are in line with project objectives. She will assist in
administration of vaccination and supervise the general well being and condition of livestock and will take part at
any study, research, and survey or data collections conducted in the target communities.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
1. Mobilize communities in line with project objectives, conduct surveys and need assessments at the
target communities to identify eligible project participants
 Conduct identification survey of the project participants
 Assist in conducting surveys, Focus Group Discussion (FGD) or research related to livestock
 Collect project related data and information
 Conduct identification and evaluation survey if required

Facilitate formation of livestock groups at the communities
 Identify center for group gatherings/meetings and schedule/ organize group meeting
 Participate in participatory need assessment at community level
 Apply “Do No Harm” theory at any project interventions
 Work according to community cultures and norms
 Ensure that no discrimination has been made among the different classes people in the communities
2. Assess the effect of overall project implementation/facilitate establishment of knowledge and
information sharing channel to communities and project participants
 Support in training of project participants on livestock related topics

Assess communities’ awareness level regarding livestock keeping and provide necessary information/on the
job training
Improve the social skills of the women in the target areas
Instruct project participants on medicine usages and administration of vaccine for livestock disease
prevention
Establish linkage mechanism with Veterinary Field Unit (VFU)
Keep clinical records of livestock and provide necessary reports
Follow up vaccination seasons and keep project participants knowledge updated
Instruct women on personal and environmental hygiene, water sanitation, milk processing and health care
issues
Conduct continuous monitoring of livestock production, status of coops and stables and livestock treatment
process
Coordinate plans and activities of livestock centers
Record project lessons learned and challenges and report them to the Field Supervisor
3. Ensure messages delivered to communities are in accordance to Behavior Change Communication
(BCC) strategy
 Attend BCC trainings to acquire update knowledge on message delivery
 Ensure ideal behavior is promoted among project participants
 Collect necessary data and information to keep track of change in attitudes and practices of target
communities
 Strengthen communities’ contribution toward project implementation
4. Maintain good relation with the communities, area representatives and stakeholders
 Contribute monitoring process in the target communities. Submit necessary documents to field supervisor
and Data Management Officer (DMO)
 Conduct regular meetings with head of livestock centers and ensure proper coordination network is
established
 Linkage with head of community centers and report on their behalf to Field Supervisor
 Contribute in livestock purchasing, distribution process, livestock feedstuff and other related activities assist
in referral process of sick livestock from CARE communities to Veterinary Field Unit (VFU)
 Submit necessary reports to Field Supervisor (FS) in a timely manner
5. To perform other job related tasks assigned by supervisor as and when required
QUALIFICATION (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS)
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma
WORK EXPERIENCE:
At least one year experience related to community based livestock interventions
SKILLS:
The incumbent should have negotiation and communication skills
LANGUAGES:
Perfect knowledge of both spoken and written Pashto and Dari
GENERAL:
Build personal and inter project relationship, analyze issues, cultural sensitivity,
gender sensitivity and team work
