Other Important Information
Mid- Year Transcripts: PHS will automatically send mid-year transcripts to all Common Application Schools . If you are applying to a non-Common
App school that officially requests s a mid-year, you must let the Registrar know to send your mid-year transcript to that school.
Final Transcripts: In May you will meet with your counselor to let him or her know where you are attending college. I will send your final transcript to that college. Final transcripts are sent around July 15, which is when MCPS releases transcripts to the schools. If you are registered with NCAA they will receive your final transcript too.
Naviance Family Connection allows the PHS Counseling Service team to communicate college information to families. It makes college research easy by allowing families to compare colleges and universities, explore scholarship opportunities, track college applications, and access a variety of other college research materials (http://www.naviance.com/students/).
Naviance eDocs is an electronic document delivery system. It allows students to submit electronic documents to more than 1,700 colleges and universities, including every Common Application member institution (http://www.naviance.com/schools//studentsfamilies).
Common Application (Common App) is a not-for-profit organization that serves students and member institutions by providing an admission application – online and in print – that students may submit to any of the 456 member colleges or universities
(https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/FAQ.aspx).
NACAC Forms are universal standard college application and secondary school report forms. Poolesville High school does not use individual college secondary school report forms; instead PHS uses NACAC forms for all college applications.

Early Decision is an accelerated college application process in which students typically must complete their applications in
November. In most cases, students will then receive a decision from the college before January. Early decision is financially binding. If admitted, a student must attend the school or else lose a sizable enrollment deposit. A student may apply to only one college early decision (although additional applications for regular admissions are allowed).
If accepted, a student must withdraw all other college applications.
Early Action is an accelerated college application process in which students typically must complete their applications in November.
In most cases, students will then receive a decision from the college before January. At many colleges, the acceptance rates are higher for early action than for regular admission. UMCP accepts 90% of its Freshman Class through Early Action. Students who are not accepted early are still considered for admission with the regular admission pool. Early action is not binding -- students are free to apply to other colleges. Although students receive early notification of an acceptance, they do not need to make a decision until the usual May 1 deadline allowing time for Financial Aid decisions http://collegeapps.about.com/od/admissionstimeline/College_Admissions_Timeline.htm).
