CAPO’s first Emerging Artists’ Prize exhibition opens at M16 Artspace this Thursday 28th May at 6pm!
Gordon Bull will share his insights and declare the exhibition open this Thursday! All are invited to the
opening to view the work, meet the artists and have a glass of wine. Over the weekend there will be a
further chance to meet the artists and talk in-depth about their work. Both Estelle Briedis-Spelman and
Millán Pintos-Lόpez will speak about their work and their experience in collaborating with first-time curators
Ella Morrison and Hannah Webb on Saturday 30th May at 1:30pm.
Ella and Hannah have created a compelling exhibition from the work of artists they have invited to
contribute. The theme they have chosen is one of geometric abstraction, and all eleven artists express a
strong sense of geometry through their application of line, form, and colour. Though their materials range
from steel to canvas and from paper to string, their collective aesthetic emphasises those qualities. It is
through this universal lens of form that the viewer can appreciate the nuanced individual responses to the
shapes that preoccupy the artists’ minds and work.
There will be a $500 cash Prize – donated by CAPO – awarded to an artist in this exhibition. The winner
will be announced at the gala opening on 28 May at 6:30pm. The judges for 2015 are Megan Jackson and
Mark Bayly. Come along to M16 Artspace and see the winner announced!
The Emerging Artists’ Prize exhibition is open from 28th May to 14th June. M16 Artspace’s opening hours
are Wednesday to Sunday, 12-5pm.
All artwork and an exhibition catalogue will be for sale via the M16 Artspace office.
All artists and curators are available for interview. Please direct inquiries to Marilyn Gray at the CAPO office on 02 6249
