ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNER
Established in 1999, Transcon Environmental, Inc., offers environmental consulting services throughout
the western United States with offices in Arizona, California, and Utah. Our team of environmental
planners, biologists and archaeologists provides environmental planning, permitting, and compliance
services in addition to infrastructure siting, environmental construction management and monitoring to

We are seeking an entry-level environmental planner for a full-time position in our San Francisco office
to work on environmental permitting/compliance projects, siting and routing of linear utilities, and
natural/cultural resource management in California. This position will require the candidate to work
onsite at Transcon’s office in San Francisco and attend meetings at various locations. This position is fulltime, salaried, and eligible for full benefits. Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications,
proficiencies, level of education, and years of experience. We anticipate that employment will begin in
summer 2014.
REQUIRED:
 Bachelor’s degree in environmental or urban planning, environmental sciences, geography,
natural resource management, landscape architecture, or a related field.
 Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite.
 Familiarity and experience with field data collection, GPS devices, and Geographic Information
Systems.
 Ability to work independently and with a team to complete work requests under pressure and
with short deadlines.
 Effective written and oral communication skills.
 Excellent organizational and analytical capabilities.
PREFERRED:
 1-2 years prior experience in environmental planning, urban/regional planning, environmental
science, or related field.
 Experience in preparation of environmental documents meeting National Environmental Policy
Act and/or California Environmental Quality Act (NEPA/CEQA) requirements for infrastructure
projects or related activities.
 Strong understanding of Visual Resource Management, National Historic Trails, or other
recreation based contingents of land planning/environmental management fields.
 Experience in coordinating regulatory permitting with federal, state, and local agencies.
