Have your resume reviewed by a professional in the field and a staff member in Career Services. Then upload your resume to your Mules4Hire account. (Quik Tip hours are offered from 1-4 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays and 9-Noon on Tuesdays). Upload a copy of your unofficial transcript (located in MyCentral) to your Mules4Hire account. Remember to update this each semester. Establish your self-managed credential file. Register on MOREAP at www.moreap.net Develop your “30 second speech” for short encounters with employers. Identify at least three individuals who will serve as references. Take advantage of the Career Development Workshops and How to Be Successful at Teacher Placement Day Workshop (online) sponsored by Career Services. Schedule a mock interview with your Career Development Coordinator (CDC) or with an employer visiting campus through your Mules4Hire account. Expand your professional wardrobe. Professionalize your voicemail message, email address, and social networking sites for districts. Research the type of school districts that are of interest to you through Mules4Hire and your personal network. Step 3: Begin your Search Attend - Education Interview Days 10/28/14 (T) and 04/06/15 (M) Attend - Teacher Placement Day 03/25/15 (W) Contact the districts you wish to pursue to learn their specific application process, and then follow them. Check Mules4Hire for listed positions on a regular basis. Job opportunities are posted daily. Network! Let as many people know as possible that you are looking for employment. Give them a resume and keep them posted on your progress and areas of interest. Include: Professional Organizations Faculty, Family, & Friends Former Employers, Colleagues Prepare customized cover letters for each district with which you are submitting your resume. Develop a system for tracking your contacts, interviews, and other job-search activities. Prepare questions you need to ask during the interview and any additional follow up questions. Send thank you notes following each interview. Continue to re-evaluate job search strategies and expand your network; investigate the hidden job market.
