Photography and Arts Competition Rules 2015
2015 Form
PHARTS 2015 1. Rules for both Photography and Arts Entries
a. The competition is open to anyone attending a Derbyshire Scouting section, their
Parents/Guardians, Leaders, SAS members, Helpers and Executive members.
b. The submission must be your own art/photograph that has not previously been entered into any
competition, been offered for sale or been paid for publication.
c. The submission must match the theme of the competition.
d. Entrants will retain copyright in the art/photographs that they submit. By entering the
competition all entrants grant to South Derbyshire Scout District the right to publish and exhibit
their art/photographs. No fees will be payable for any of the above uses.
e. Only one entry is allowed per participant.
f. The person entering the competition must be within the correct age range, as of the closing date
of the competition.
g. All entries must be on paper/card/photographic paper to a size of A4 (210mm X 297mm).
h. Entries smaller than the above size must be fixed to an A4 card (210mm X 297mm)
i. A completed entry form must be fixed to the back of each entry
j. Entrants must arrive by last post/midnight on the closing date 1st October, 2015. Postal address is:

k. Judges decision will be final.
l. Entries will not be returned unless a self-addressed, stamped envelope is included with your entry.
You must also mark on the entry form that you wish your entry to be returned.
m. No responsibility can be taken for any loss or damage while in transit, during judging or whilst on
display.
n. All paid entries will receive a badge.
2. Art Specific Rules
a. Entries can be a painting or drawing
b. Entries should be made in paint, pencil, chalk or pastel
3. Photography Specific Rules
a. Photographs may be digitally enhanced to remove spots or scratches, but not manipulated.
Entrants can enhance the picture to make it brighter, clearer etc., but not manipulate the content.
The judges reserve the right to exclude any image they believe may have been excessively treated so
as to alter its authenticity.
b. All photographs must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any
other party. The entrants must be the sole owner of copyright in all photographs entered and must
have obtained permission of any people featured in the entries or their parents/guardians if children
under 18 are featured. Further, entrants must not have breached any laws when taking their
photographs.
4. Entry Classification Definition
a. Aged 5 ¾ to 8 years old and registered in a Beaver Colony
b. Aged 7 ½ to 10 ½ years old and registered in a Cub Pack
c. Aged 10 ½ to 14 ½ years old and registered in a Scout Troop
d. Aged 14 to 18 years old and registered in an Explorer Unit and/or as a Young Leader
e. Over 18 years of age. Must be Parent/Guardian of a child active in a Scouting Section or linked
with a Scout Group/District (e.g. Leader, Helper, Network, SASU member, Executive member).
5. 2015 Theme. This year’s theme is England. All entries must be linked to this theme.
6. Prizes may be given depending on sponsorship and if any given will only be given out if attending
the Presentation. If you are not able to attend please send a nominated person to pick up on your
behalf.
