Job Description
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Supervisor: Director of Clinical Operations in coordination with Medical Director
Job Description: The Licensed Clinical Social Worker will provide psychiatric social work
assistance to mentally or behaviorally challenged patients of CHA medical centers and their
families. The clinical social worker will collaborate with the mental health staff, referral source,
and multi-disciplinary staff at Community Health Alliance (CHA) to assess, diagnose and form a
treatment plan for the patient.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of community mental health resources and their requirements
2. Knowledge of psycho-social disorders and their affects on children and families
3. Knowledge of state and federal regulations as they relate to the care and treatment of the
mentally ill.
4. Knowledge of the essential functions, practices and procedures of a mental health
provider.
5. Knowledge of, skills related to and ability to treat mental health issues
6. Knowledge of, skills related to and ability to track on-going treatment of mental health
patients.
7. Knowledge of methods, principals and techniques of social case work, psychotherapeutic
interventions, and practice with individuals, groups and families.
8. Skill in operating personal computers utilizing word processing, databases, statistical and
graphic presentations, and various general office equipment.
9. Skill in communicating and dealing with diverse groups of people individually and in
group settings.
10. Skill in investigating case situations and ability to present this information to the medical
staff in clear and concise manner.
11. Skill in organizing and prioritizing, especially in crisis situations.
12. Ability to perform psycho-social assessments including; relevant family and social
history that may pertain to diagnosis and treatment.
13. Ability to work with families to improve communications reduces socially un-acceptable
behavior, teach coping skills, and stress management.
14. Ability to write and carry out moderate to extensive treatment plans as required per case.
15. Ability to interpret patient’s treatment to patient’s family and help to reduce any
obstruction or attitudes that may interfere with psychiatric care and treatment.
Education and Experience: Master’s degree in social work, marriage and family counseling,
clinical psychology, or closely related field; or equivalent combination of education and
experience. Hold a current license to practice (LSCW, MFT, or Clinical Psychologist) in the
State of Nevada or eligibility for licensure in Nevada. Must demonstrate experience working
with culturally diverse populations. Bilingual Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Role: Provide psychiatric social work assistance to mentally or behaviorally challenged patients
of CHA, hospitals, other medical centers and their families. The clinical social worker will
collaborate with mental health staff, referral sources, and multi-disciplinary staff at CHA to
assess diagnosis and form a treatment plan for the patient.
Qualifications:
1. Prioritization and organizational skills, especially in crisis situations.
2. Critical thinking and problem solving skills, including; ability to read, interpret and
analyze data.
3. Ability to present information and represent CHA at relevant meetings, committees,
conferences or community organizations.
4. Knowledge of methods, principles and techniques of social case work, psychotherapeutic
interventions, and practice with individuals, groups and families.
5. Must demonstrate experience working with culturally diverse populations.
6. Ability to collect data, define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
7. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several
abstract and concrete variables.
Public Relations:
1. Attend and actively participate in/on community/county/committees as deemed relative.
2. Actively involved with local consortiums to work towards long-term mentally health
needs.
3. Stays current with new ideas, trends, and resources within the community mental health
care environment.
4. Actively promotes CLF (Creating Lasting Families) involvement to the schools, churches
and other community agencies.
Administrative Responsibilities:
1. Facilitates bridges of communication with other staff members and community agencies.
2. Works with Medical Director, Outreach Manager, and staff providers to increase
efficiency and progress of mental health referrals.
Customer Service:
1. Exemplifies in behavior the Core Values of CHA
2. Works with the Medical Director and Outreach Manager to provide mental health
evaluations and resolve patient conflicts as quickly as possible.
