Interpersonal Psychotherapy Group A psychotherapy group for men and women looking to improve their relationships with themselves and others. When: First group starts Wednesday, December 3, 2014 from 5:30 – 6:45pm and will meet each Wednesday thereafter. Where: 970 North Kalaheo Avenue, Suite A-216, Kailua, HI 96734 Contact: Nancy Cha, Ph.D. at 808-589-8803 or ncha.paradigm@gmail.com About the group: This group is intended for those having difficulty with: Interpersonal relationships Isolation Depression Anxiety Loss Addictive disorders Serious medical illness Behavior problems You will learn with and from other people about: 1) your own patterns of thought and behavior 2) others’ patterns of thought and behavior and 3) your and others’ perceptions of action and behavior to one another. Group members will work to express their own concerns, feelings, ideas and reactions as freely and honestly as possible. The psychotherapy group is different from support and self-help groups in that it not only helps people cope with life’s challenges, but also provides for significant change and growth so that individuals feel better about the quality of their lives. Group therapy benefits include improved self-knowledge and effectiveness in interpersonal relationships, decreased shame and isolation, and the development of self-compassion and self-acceptance. This group is not intended for those struggling with severe mental illness, active suicidality, or active substance abuse. About the leader: Nancy is a Licensed Psychologist with specialized expertise in working with men and women via group treatment who have been through difficult experiences and who struggle with shame, trauma and relationship challenges.
