SIMSBURY – On Ocotber 6 ,2014 – McLean will host a free presentation on Winter Wellness, This free
seminar will be a panel discussion with four experts in their field of health and wellness, including
Healthy Habits to build your immune system and reduce stress during the holidays, Simple indoor exercises to
increase strength and balance, Best ways to improve circulation and stamina and resources to maintain health
and safety.
Meet our Speakers:
Barb Evans, PT, MS, Rehabilitation Supervisor of Outpatient and Home Care Therapy, at
McLean. Barb specializes in geriatrics, spine therapy and pulmonary rehabilitation.
She is a graduate of UCONN with a degree in Physical Therapy and a MS degree from
University of Wisconsin in LaCrosse in Adult Fitness and Cardiac Rehabilitation
Ellen Palmer is a Certified Holistic Health and Lifestyle Change Coach specializing in
helping peopleachieve optimal wellness and success through nutrition, movement and
self care solutions designed for their bio-individual needs.
She is the Owner of Ellen Palmer Wellness, Founder of the Best You Retreat For
Women™ and the creator of the “Once And For All Weight Loss™ Programs. Ellen has
appeared on Fox 61 News, WFSB News and Clear Chanel radio programs as a wellness contributor. She
is a graduate of The Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NYC as well as St. Michael’s College.
Bill Couch is a personal trainer and Outdoor Recreation Expert. He believes that daily
exercise is the best thing we can do for ourselves, our community and for the world,
because it makes us better people. It is by exercising our bodies that we are able to
maintain healthy brains, and through physical activity that we are able grow new brain
cells, balance our neurotransmitters, manage stress, anxiety and a host of other mental
illnesses. Bill is a biker-surfer-skier-runner-golfer-hiker-kayaker-kind-of-guy and can
often be seen with a client in tow, doing body weight exercises at the top of the hills that surround his
neighborhood.
Bill is an ACE-Certified Personal Trainer, Silver Sneakers Instructor, CPR/AED, Wilderness First Aid,
Water Safety, Balance Training Expert and Ski Instructor, 75% of his clients are Seniors and he is
constantly creating strategies to help the aging population with functional training.
Mary Ellen Mullins is a Certified Yoga and Pilates Instructor, Mary Ellen has been
spreading her love for Yoga and Pilates throughout the Valley for over 15 years and now
is also certified to teach Chi-Gung
Mary Ellen has created a unique fusion of Yoga, Pilates and Chi-Gung. Her gentle and
balanced approach to teaching incorporates breath work, stretching, strengthening, and
relaxing.
