Aspiring Engineer Scholarship 2015 Aspiring Engineer University Entrance Scholarship 2015 Engineering is a profession that touches every facet of society. Engineers are called upon to design, resolve problems, and establish regulations. Their decisions impact society and, as such, they are held to a higher standard. An engineering degree is a beginning of the formation of a professional engineer and can lead to a vast number of career opportunities, with graduates in demand in almost every sector of the economy. At university, engineering students take a broad range of subjects that equip them for real engineering work life challenges. The Professional Engineers Ontario Brampton Chapter is pleased to offer two $500 each University Entrance Scholarships to Aspiring Engineers embarking on their first year of study in engineering. To promote Women in Engineering, Brampton Chapter is also introducing an additional $500 scholarship for Aspiring Female Engineers. Below are details of the scholarships. OBJECTIVES: • To encourage high school students to pursue careers in the engineering profession • To connect the local chapter with students • To provide some financial assistance to students who have chosen to pursue engineering • To give students a sense of belonging to a respected profession that reinforces high standards and professional competence • To bring an understanding of the values of the profession so that they can accept the responsibilities of becoming professional engineers REQUIREMENTS: • Recipient must be a 2015 grade 12 graduating student from a school within the Brampton Chapter boundaries (visit http://www.peobrampton.com/ to view chapter boundary). • Recipient will be accepted into and enrolled in a CEAB-accredited Ontario University engineering program in the Fall of 2015. The engineering discipline the student wishes to take is up to the student and not a factor in the scholarship committee’s decision. • Recipient must submit a scholarship application to the PEO Brampton Chapter (i.e., cannot be automatically chosen) education@peobrampton.com along with their final Grade 12 marks by 5 pm of July 31th, 2015. • Recipient must be interested in signing up for the PEO SMP (Student Membership Program), which is available at no cost to the recipient. Please note that the decision on the awarding of the scholarship will be final and will not be disclosed, and not subject to any appeal process.
