End of Year Letter

Dear Seniors:
Congratulations! Graduation is only a few weeks away. Commencement signifies the successful completion of
one chapter in your life and the beginning of a new chapter. The Class of 2015 will be remembered for your
many contributions to our school in academics, music, arts, athletics and service.
Our commencement ceremony will be held on Wednesday, June 10th, 2015 at 6:30pm in the high school
stadium. As long as the weather cooperates, there are no tickets for the stadium seating. We will simulcast
the ceremony in the auditorium if the weather is too hot for some of our guests. In the event of poor
weather, we will hold the ceremony inside the gymnasium and students will be issued three tickets to the
ceremony for their guests. Overflow seating will be available in the auditorium to allow those without tickets
to view the ceremony via a live simulcast.
On June 10th, STHS will hold a mandatory graduation rehearsal at the high school stadium from 9:00am to
11:00am. At that time, high school staff will conduct a “dry run” of commencement activities. Students must
attend rehearsal to participate in the graduation ceremony. That evening, students should return to the high
school cafeteria no later than 5:30pm to prepare for graduation. Students should leave handbags, cell phones,
and other personal property at home or locked in their cars before reporting to the cafeteria. Remember, you
will not be able to carry anything with you to the stadium.
High school commencement is a formal ceremony. As such, participants and guests should conduct
themselves with the dignity and solemnity appropriate to the occasion. During the ceremony, students will
wear the customary cap and gown, which they have ordered from the high school. Under the cap and gown,
male students should wear a shirt and tie, slacks and shoes. Female students should dress appropriately, as
they would for any other formal ceremony, being careful to avoid high-heeled shoes. Please do not wear
sneakers. Students should refrain from drawing attention to themselves by their dress or behavior, and guests
should demonstrate their enthusiasm with restraint. We look forward to a memorable and exciting ceremony
at which all graduating seniors can be properly recognized for their accomplishments.
The attached information is very important and should be read carefully. If you have any questions, please let
us know.
Sincerely,
Charles E. Rittenhouse, Ed.D.
