9. Garbage Compactor
9.1 The garbage compactor body shall have a
capacity of 16 cubic yards and be split
longitudinally with two equal compartments.

9.2 Body to be tapered front to rear to enhance offloading operation.

9.4 The tail gate design shall include a positive lock
system which requires hydraulic power to
engage and disengage the locks, thereby
eliminating the need for manual lock pins.
Tailgates to be semi-round design.
9.5 The bottom of the tailgates to have four (4) lock
lugs (two in each tailgate) which will engage the
rear body apron when tailgate is closed.
9.6 The tailgate shall have a secondary locking
system that ensures the tailgate is locked in the
closed position
9.7 Tailgate hydraulics shall include a system to
prevent sudden unexpected descent of the gate.
9.8 Tailgates to have a seal to ensure no leakage of
material from body. (provide details)
9.9 A splitter plate shall direct the two streams of
waste to the appropriate side of the compactor
body from the curb side of the vehicle
9.10 A universal hydraulically operated arm shall be
mounted on the curb side of the body to pick
various sized garbage, recycling and green
waste bins. Lifting capacity shall be 400 lbs

9.12 Mounted to the side of the cab console shall be
a weatherproof composite enclosure which will
contain the electronic packer control module.
The control module shall be programmed to
control all functions of the packer, pump and
engine speed up.
Some of the programmed features will include:
i.
Pump on/off.
ii.
One or three cycles.
iii.
Engine speed up with packer cycle (only if
neutral signal present from transmission.)
iv.
Soft shift of packer valve spool to prevent
hydraulic shock.
v.
Means of automatically terminating the pack
cycle and reversing the ram after a certain
time period should the packer be packed out
and not able to fully extend, thereby
preventing the system from going over relief
for an extended period.
vi.
Terminate pack cycle and turn off pump
should any of the E-Stop buttons or panic
bars be pushed.
vii.
Record PTO hours.
viii.

9.13 A weatherproof composite box shall be
mounted on the right side towards the front of
the hopper to contain the following controls:
i.
Red E-Stop Button. (Self-latching type)
ii.
Green Start Cycle Button.
iii.
Reverse Cycle Button.

Forward Jog Button.(at engine
idle speed only)
v.
One or three cycle selector switch.
vi.

9.14 A Panic Bar shall be install full length of the
right side hopper loading area. (also left side if
optional left side controls present):
i. This Panic Bar shall be boldly identified as
“Panic Bar” or “Emergency Stop”.
ii. Leaning against or pushing the Panic Bar will
instantly stop any cycle in progress and turn
off the pump.
iii. The Panic Bar switch must be manually reset

13. Warranty & Miscellaneous
2. If this offer is accepted by the City, such offer and acceptance will create a contract as described in:

the General Terms and Conditions; and
this Quotation; and
other terms, if any, that are agreed to by the parties in writing.
3. Capitalized terms used and not defined in this Quotation will have the meanings given to them in the
RFQ. Except as specifically modified by this Quotation, all terms, conditions, representations,
warranties and covenants as set out in the RFQ will remain in full force and effect.
4. The Contractor will meet or exceed each item in the specifications as written: YES  NO . If No,

dealer’s detailed description of each variation with reference made to each item to which the variation

Note: Failure to provide all of the information in Schedule B does not relieve the Contractor of the
responsibility of supplying all of the necessary items and/or complying with all of the conditions of this
