MGWSP Graduate Engineer - Bridges - Job Description Job Title : Graduate Engineer - Bridges Job Location : Brixworth Employing Company : WSP Division : Engineering Services Job Summary The position of Graduate Engineer – Bridges is required support the bridge team. The position is predominately office based but will include some time on site. The team is involved in a wide range of projects associated with bridges and highway structures including detailed design and scheme preparation, as well as assessment and site inspection works and checking of developers proposals. You will be part of a team and training will be given on the job and through courses. Role Profile Plan, develop and implement bridges and highway structures schemes to specification, budget and agreed targets Prepare detailed structural designs to Euro code standards Develop and produce detailed drawings Preparation of Bills of Quantities and Specifications Analyse and appraise the design of developers proposals to ensure compliance to the relevant technical directives and specifications Scheme development through MGWSP Manager, WMS, and EXOR Ensure works are completed to IMS, the policies of MGWSP are adhered to and legislative requirements are met Interfacing with multi-disciplinary project teams Compliance with appropriate design and health and safety standards Comply to MGWSP Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental requirements and standards Work in compliance with the Traffic Management Act and the New Roads and Streetworks Act Design safe traffic management systems in consultation in accordance with Chapter 8 Contribute to ensuring that key business targets and KPI’s are met and wherever possible exceeded Any other duties as required Management System Elements – Responsibility, Accountability and Authority As defined within the Integrated Management System (IMS), procedure reference MW-OP26-27 MGWSP Graduate Engineer - Bridges - Job Description Preferred Qualifications/Education Qualified with a Masters degree in Civil Engineering Working towards becoming chartered Driving licence Preferred Competencies Working knowledge/experience of Eurocode standards for bridge design Aptitude for structural engineering and calculations Good Project Management skills Computer literate – Knowledge of Microsoft Office 2010 AutoCAD skills essential Skills Driven to provide good results and self-motivated A confident and professional manner Ability to work under pressure and deliver to deadlines Good communication skills both written and oral Ability to work in a team and individually Ability to work under pressure Ability to use initiative and plan own work load Knowledge General knowledge of bridge design and maintenance Finance and Budget management Behaviour Willing, enthusiastic and flexible in their approach to work Ability to use initiative and be proactive in solving problems ‘Can do – will do’ attitude Able to undertake their work activities in a safe manner in compliance with the MGWSP health and safety management system and not compromising the health and safety of their colleagues, subcontractors, the client and members of the public.
