Pulse Content Editor-in-Chief Please upload completed application and resume to the Pulse.Messiah.edu/Apply Email any questions to ThePulse@messiah.edu or come into our office, located downstairs in the Larsen Student Union Wages and Hours: $7.85/hour; 11 hour/week Job Description • • • • • • • • • • • • Serve on Pulse leadership board, attending managerial meetings and contributing ideas and offering feedback and criticism to Pulse projects and direction Oversee print and online production process of newspaper: develop schedule of publication, establish content deadlines, ensure sufficient and appropriate content is generated, oversee the copyediting of all articles, and ensure content is published in a timely manner to web Promote content on appropriate social media sites when applicable Organize and supervise all article writers, communicating story ideas to them and offering feedback with regard to article content and style Support section editors in handling any questions, problems, conflict, confusion, etc. Author and/or co-author articles as able Recruit writers throughout the school year and plan appropriate professional development when necessary Work with Business Team to establish budget for organization, draw up printing contract with local printer and read relevant contracts Coordinate newspaper distribution on printing days; responsible for ensuring all newspapers are distributed In consultation with advisor, make decisions regarding potentially inflammable or controversial article, letter, or opinion piece, Maintain and upkeep newspaper archive Conduct end of the semester assessments of the newspaper with advisor and student director and complete a transition binder detailing information for incoming editor Organization-wide Expectations Attend Pulse orientation at the end of the summer Attend leadership summits Recruit actively throughout the year both for volunteer and paid staff, working at promotional fairs and hanging posters for events when necessary Keep work space organized Short Answer 1.
