Instructor – Lecturer in Construction Management Department of Construction and Operations Management (COM) South Dakota State University Brookings, SD The Construction & Operations Management department at South Dakota State University invites applications for a full-time instructor / lecturer for the Construction Management program starting August 2014. This is a one-year term appointment with teaching and advising as its primary focus. We are fully accredited by ACCE and enjoy strong support from our industry partners including AGC and NAHB affiliated companies. RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in our construction management program, advise students, and collaborate with program faculty on outreach and service to the industry. The teaching component will include the topics of construction surveying, building systems and modeling, field supervision, sustainable construction, and construction business management. This will be a 33 teaching load for the academic year. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Earned master’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or closely related field (completed by August 2014): three or more years relevant industry experience; and, ability to communicate effectively. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Additional years of relevant industry experience; university teaching experience; professional credentials in sustainable construction, project management, or BIM. UNIVERSITY/COMMUNITY: South Dakota State University is the public land-grant institution with nearly 13,000 students. The Construction and Operations Management Department is one of five departments in the Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering serving 1500 undergraduate and graduate students. The 13 faculty member COM Department serves 400 students in its undergraduate programs, which include Construction Management, Operations Management, Electronics Technology and a graduate program in Operations Management. We also provide service courses to the College of Engineering and the Architecture program at SDSU. The CM program is a recent recipient of a National Housing Endowment HELP grant, targeted support from the rail maintenance foundation, and is a partner in a Precast Concrete Institute funded project with the Architecture program at SDSU.
