SCHOLARSHIPS
HONORING JON M. HUNTSMAN, SR.
General Information
The Beaumont Foundation of America (BFA) seeks to transform the lives students who desire to study
process operating technology, instrumentation technology or other related petrochemical areas at Lamar
Institute of Technology. All awards will be based on financial need and demonstrated evidence of strong
commitment to academic success and achievement of personal and educational goals.
Up to two scholarships are awarded annually for tuition, fees, books and supplies (approximately
$4,000.00 per year per student). Students may be considered for scholarship renewal up to two years after
semester grade reports have been reviewed by the Foundation Scholarship Committee. Scholarship
students must maintain a 2.5 grade point average each semester and complete at least 12 hours of course
work each semester. The maximum duration of the scholarship is 4 consecutive long semesters or until
graduation.
Scholarship Guidelines








A Texas Resident and desiring to attend Lamar Institute of Technology.
Accepted into Lamar Institute of Technology.
Nomination by high school principal or counselor.
Students pursuing process operating technology, instrumentation technology or other related
petrochemical areas degrees will be considered for a Jon M. Huntsman, Sr. Scholarship.
Two letters of recommendation required. One must be written by a high school teacher.
Complete the Beaumont Foundation of America Scholarship Application form.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Student Aid Report (SAR) must
accompany the Scholarship Application.
Show evidence of commitment to intellectual and personal growth through a broad, wellrounded educational experience.

Selection will target groups that are traditionally underserved in higher education.
“Underserved populations” are identified as economically disadvantaged, having insufficient
financial resources to meet full university expenses or first generation in college.
Committee review may also consider class ranking, grade point averages, standardized test
scores, academic success, achievement of personal and educational goals, academic major,
leadership, participation in extracurricular activities, or demonstrated abilities in and prior in and
prior successful participation in such areas as Skills USA, VICA or other such organizations.
Students may only be eligible for one BFA funded scholarship.
Applications and all supporting documents must be received by the deadline. Applications
received after the deadline or incomplete applications will not be considered.
Completion of scholarship application does not guarantee an award.
The decision of The Beaumont Foundation of America Scholarship Selection Committee is final;
there is no appeal process.
Funds are distributed to Lamar Institute of Technology each semester with continuous eligibility
and good academic standing.
