Lunch was served at 11:30 during networking time and President Anne Rogers called the meeting to order with 10 members and guest present. Anne Rogers welcomed everyone to the meeting, presented a safety briefing, and asked everyone to introduce themselves to the group. Anne Rogers asked the attendees to review and approve the February Meeting Minutes. Paul Thomas made a motion to approve the minutes and Tom Drygas seconded the motion. Anne Rogers called for a vote and the meeting minutes were approved. Dawn Dixon gave the Membership Report; the North Florida Chapter has approximately 125 Members. Yaniv Zagagi gave the Financial Report. There is approximately $7,000 in the Chapter account. There was no old business to discuss. Anne Rogers opened the floor for new business. First item for new business was a donation to the NEFSC which was brought to the table by Paul Thomas. Paul Thomas made a motion that the chapter make a $1,000 donation to the NEFSC since they generously allow us to use their facility for meetings for free. Tom Drygas seconded the motion. There was a discussion on the amount of the donation. Treasurer, Yaniv Zagagi suggested that we be conservative with our donation so as not to deplete chapter funds. Anne Rogers called for a vote. The motion passed and the Chapter approved the $1,000 donation. The next item of new business was the annual scholarship donation. Lois Thomas moved to make a $2,000 donation to our chapter’s scholarship fund which would allow for a $1,000 scholarship, approximately $300 for fees and the remainder to go toward our scholarship endowment account. Paul Thomas seconded the motion. The motion passed. The final item of new business was chapter elections. All candidates were running unopposed. The Chapter voted to accept the ballot as listed. Anne Rogers concluded the business portion of the meeting and introduced the technical speaker, Sheldon Reed from the Fire Academy. Sheldon Reed gave a presentation on the Fire Academy’s training program including a live demonstration of their aircraft fire simulator. With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
