WINTER VACCINATIONS FLU You are entitled to a free flu vaccination in you fall into one of the following categories: • • • People aged 65 or over All pregnant women People with a serious medical condition such as: chronic (long-term) respiratory disease such as, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchitis or severe asthma requiring continuous or repeated use of inhaled or systemic steroids or with previous exacerbations requiring hospital admission) chronic heart disease, such as heart failure; chronic kidney disease at stage 3, 4 or 5; chronic liver disease; chronic neurological disease, such as Parkinson's disease or motor neurone disease; diabetes; Weakened immune system due to disease (such as HIV/AIDS) or treatment (such as cancer treatment). People living in long-stay residential care homes or nursing homes Carers FLU FOR 2, 3 AND 4 YEAR OLDS Children aged two, three or four years on the 1st September 2014 are entitled to flu vaccination. Eligible children will be invited to attend for vaccination. SHINGLES From 1st September patients aged 70, 78 or 79 on 1st September 2014 will be entitled to a free Shingles vaccine. A single vaccination offers lifetime protection against shingles. PNEUMOCOCCAL VACCINATION Patients aged 65 or over are entitled to free pneumococcal vaccination. A single vaccination offers lifetime protection against pneumococcal disease. please turn over for details of flu clinics……………………….. Flu vaccination clinics will be held: Saturday 4th October at Great Notley Saturday 11th October at Little Waltham No appointment is necessary but to ease congestion it would help if patients could attend at the following times: Surnames beginning with: ABCD EFGH IJKL MNOP QRST UVWXYZ Please attend between 08.30 – 09.15 09.15 – 10.00 10.00 – 10.45 10.45 – 11.30 11.30 – 12.15 12.15 – 13.00 If you are entitled to a shingles vaccine and/or a pneumococcal vaccine these can be given at the same time as your flu vaccine. ************ The eligibility criteria for all vaccinations are set by the Department of Health and are reviewed each year. If you are uncertain whether or not you are entitled to a free vaccination please speak to a receptionist who will check your eligibility with a GP.
