Class of 2017 Candidate Statements Class of 2017 President Brendan Puszcz My name is Brendan Puszcz and I am running for sophomore class President. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year at Sparta High School and I know that I can make a positive impact here. During my freshman year I was on the basketball and lacrosse teams. I served my lacrosse team as captain. I am also currently the secretary Mock United Nations Club. I believe that I am the best candidate for President of the sophomore class. I know that I will positively contribute to the student council. I enjoyed participating in a few student council activities this past year and would love to become a more active member. I am willing to make the tough decisions in life that most are not, that’s what separates me from the rest. If I am elected president I will put my heart and soul into my position and will be dedicated to the job. I have held other leadership positions before and am not new to the role. I understand the dedication and commitment aspect of this position. I am good with groups of people and know how to have fun and encourage others to join in. I will bring great ideas to the table during meetings about spirit week and other school functions. Spirit week is a great way to show enthusiasm for Sparta High School and I know school spirit will help to create a better school environment. I had a great time leading the freshman class at the pep rally! I am looking forward to leading the class of 2017 as sophomore class President of Sparta High School. Brent Bloomgren Greetings fellow freshman, I'd like to congratulate each and every one of you for successfully completing your first year of high school. Although there has been much work, my duties as class president have not suffered. I maintain that experience is essential to mastering anything, and my experience this last year has been very rewarding. Your fellow officers and I were able to form steady fund-raisers, from selling mugs to spear-heading the successful video game tournament last month. It has been an enlightening experience, to say the least. However, I believe there is always more that can be done. If I am elected, I promise there will be more events, new ideas, and a lot more fun for everyone. From social gatherings to sports celebrations, I promise to make next school year even more enjoyable for our class. As president, I will always put class matters first. Your opinion matters to me, and I will do my best to honor your ideas and those of the majority. However, this campaign won't be possible without your help. You, as a student and fellow classmate, are the voice in this government. Make the best decision possible for your class, vote for Brent Bloomgren as your next Class President! Class of 2017 Vice – President Liam Armstrong My name is Liam Armstrong and I am running for the position of Vice President for the Class of 2017. At the beginning of the 2013-14 school year, I ran for this very position and now I am back, armed with a year’s worth of fresh ideas to bring to my peers. I am currently the President of the Model United Nations Club here at SHS, a club that I spearheaded into reality in a time of only two months. Now, I want to use my same drive, my same motivation for not just my club, but all of my peers as their Vice President. With the leadership skills I have acquired through Model United Nations, I will work with my fellow class officers to make not only our sophomore year successful and enjoyable, but look into the bigger picture and lay the foundations of paying for our junior and senior prom. Government is my passion, and as VP, I will serve the desires of every member of the upcoming sophomore class. The biggest thing I want to drive this year is fun, and with your vote, we can make the 2014-15 school year the most fun year Sparta High School has ever seen. After all, it is Only the Best for SHS. Class of 2017 Treasurer Will McKenna My name is Will McKenna, and I am running for re-election for the position of Treasurer for the Class of 2017. In this past year, I have co-founded a club here at Sparta and have filled the role as treasurer for the Class of 2017. I am still the best suited candidate for the job, since math is my passion and I have the experience to make this upcoming year even better. I love to crunch numbers and create decisions off of a statistical analysis enabling me to maximize income with the smallest amount of costs. This past year as your treasurer, I learned valuable lessons about the student government that I would not have learned anywhere else. This experience sets me apart from others, as I learned how to create and manage successful fundraisers like the Super Smash Bros tournament. Last year I successfully helped to establish a new club at SHS called the Model United Nations. I will continue to work hard to bring new ideas to our fundraising efforts. With one year of Treasurer under my belt, my fellow peers and I would be able to bring the Class of 2017 to new heights, and raise money while raising the level of fun to never before seen levels. With your vote, we could make next year and the years to come very successful. Class of 2017 Secretary Kristin Smith Being a class officer I will make sure to bring any recommendations that I get from my peers to the attention of our student council. It is very important to explore any and all suggestions that are made so that everyone feels that they are an integral part of our class as a society. Dedication is my priority so the class of 2017 is a class that includes every student, so that everyone feels as though they are an important part and can contribute in any way they wish. Everyone is unique and I hope that our class comes together and embraces that uniqueness and leaves a lasting mark on Sparta High School. I would like to see our class come together to serve our community in and out of school, to become a stronger unit to achieve our common goals. Enthusiasm fills me when I think about joining with the faculty, student body and the community to work for the class of 2017 to be the best at Sparta High School.
