(See Appendix H: Doctoral Dissertation Committee Appointment Form.

Program Chairperson to obtain Dean’s and Department Chair’s signatures
and file in students’ file.)
Prepare 2 – 3 page dissertation prospectus, including brief theoretical
background and preliminary research design and submit it to committee
for approval. (Preparation of the prospectus is one of the requirements of
EDUF 8129.)

Upon successful completion of comprehensive written and oral
examinations, student submits and Doctoral Committee completes
Approval of Completed Comprehensive Examinations form (Original to
Program Chairperson to obtain Dean’s and Department Chair’s signatures
and place in student’s file. Copies to student and Doctoral Committee
Chair.)

Upon successful completion of comprehensive examinations and defense
of the dissertation proposal, the Doctoral Committee completes
Dissertation Proposal Defense Approval and Admission to Candidacy
form. (Copies to student, Committee Chair; original to Program
Coordinator to obtain signatures and place in student’s file. Program
Chair will change candidacy status in ISIS.)

Post notification of Dissertation Defense (Use Application for Dissertation
Defense form, Appendix L.)
Successful defense of dissertation and approval of dissertation by
Doctoral Committee. (Final Approval of Dissertation form, Appendix M,
completed by Doctoral Committee. Copies to student, student’s file, and
Committee Chair)
