Dear Resident
South Cloisters Project (University of Exeter) and Electricity Supply Works (WPD)
South Cloisters Project (University of Exeter)
We would like to thank you for your patience and flexibility during the past eight months whilst the
South Cloisters Project construction has been ongoing, and apologise for any disruption you have
experienced as a result of our project.
Construction work will stop on the evening of 23rd December and then resume on the morning of 5th
January. The site should be quiet and secure during this period but if you do notice anything that gives
you concern please contact University Estate Patrol on 01392 723999 or our Project Managers Paul
Turner on 07880 500273 or Nick Mather on 07711 079212. (These contacts are active throughout the
project and not just for the Christmas period).
The South Cloisters construction and fit out continues until the spring of next year, so we will continue
our fortnightly liaison meetings with residents and campus users (every other Tuesday at 12.30) as a
means of keeping you up to date on what is happening, together with the information available on our
website at http://www.exeter.ac.uk/spc/stlukesdevelopment/sc_development/.
Electricity Supply Works (WPD)
We are advised that Western Power Distribution (WPD) will be undertaking work in this area in the New
Year over a five week period beginning 26th January. Their programme involves:
Week 1: 26/01/15- Trial holes to be excavated to determine cable route.
Week 2: 02/02/15- Rigid ducts to go in across driveways/ house entrances. This will keep access
restrictions to residents’ properties to a minimum
Week 3 & 4: 09/02/15- Remainder of trenching to take place, cable joint holes, cable to be laid with final
jointing and energising on 19th Feb.
Week 5: 23/02/15- This will be used for any remaining reinstatement works and tidying up etc.
In addition to the formal letters notifying residents which WPD will issue, they will be available on 17th
December 3.30 pm – 4.30pm in Cloisters café on the St Luke’s campus to explain their programme of
work in more detail to any local residents who wish to know more and to answer any questions you may
have related to these works.
We hope that this is helpful.
With best wishes.
