POSTER ABSTRACT Scientific support for the assessment of the performance of public support to the EU Fisheries Policy FAME is an initiative of the Commission (DG MARE Unit A3). The aim of FAME is to foster the development of the Common Monitoring and Evaluation System (CMES) established by Article 107 of the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) Regulation. In order to achieve this aim, the Commission has created the FAME Support Unit (FAME SU) with the purpose of providing assistance and guidance in monitoring and evaluation issues, to the Commission and also to the Member States (MS). Among the duties of the FAME SU there are a number of activities that are closely connected with the EMFF Operational Programmes submitted by the Member States in the framework of the EMFF, i.e. the synthesis of the content of the Programmes and assistance in monitoring the projects, etc. In the upper section the poster presents the basic elements that define the public support provided through the EMFF, including its link to the CMES and the FAME initiative. In the lower part, the poster outlines the main components that constitute the CMES and illustrates – in a schematic and intuitive visual manner – interactions with different actors and stakeholders of European fisheries
