Whereupon, Council Member ****** moved that the following Resolution be adopted:
RESOLUTION NO. *****
RESOLUTION ON AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF ELDORA AND
*********************** and SETTING IMPOUND FEES
Whereas the City of Eldora desires to enter into an agreement with ************ of Eldora,
Iowa (to be known as “Veterinarian”) for the purpose of confining stray animals captured by the
Eldora Police Department or authorized City agent, and
Whereas, the Veterinarian has agreed to provide this service to the City for a set fee base and
under certain conditions, and
Whereas, the City of Eldora shall set impound fees at $50 for first 24 hour period and $25 each
additional day as allowed by City Ordinance Chapter 55 Section16.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND AGREED BY AND BETWENN THE PARTIES AS
FOLLOWS:









All animals turned in by the City shall be checked for licensing or identification tags
Rates are set at a reduced level as a public service to the City
All small dogs and cats turned in by the City shall be housed at a rate of $11 a night
All large dogs turned in by the City shall be housed at a rate of $13 a night
All animals are to be housed for a minimum of 7 days at which time under Chapter 55 of
the City Code of Ordinances the animal is to be disposed of through transfer to an
adoption shelter/organization or euthanized
Feral or wild animals are not accepted unless specifically asked by the authorized agent
of the City or is a matter of public health
Animals brought in for biting a human and has an unknown vaccination history the
animal shall be held for 10 days and sent for testing if and when it exhibits signs of rabies
All euthanasia and cremations shall be charged to the City at $30 euthanasia and $40
cremation
In the event the animal is adoptable and given to an animal adoption agency or
organization the City shall pay rabies vaccination and spaying or neutering the animal at
the rate below:

Veterinarian shall not capture animals
Veterinarian shall not accept animals for impound from the public
Veterinarian shall not set nor impose impound fees, civil or municipal infractions and
fines, or tag registration
In the event an animal is without a tag or license the City may require a microchip be
installed to identify the owner and updated vaccination information at $30 to be assessed
to the owner
Veterinarian shall not release animals officially impounded by the City until notifying an
authorized agent of the City
Veterinarian shall bill the City of Eldora directly for recovery of all boarding fees, shots
or other medical procedures set in this agreement or authorized by an authorized agent of
the City
