Expression of peroxiredoxin I in epitelial cell from jugal mucosa before and after digital panoramic radiography in children and youth 03 to 20 years.
Objectives:The aim was to investigate the effect of X-rays in the epithelial cells of the oral mucosa of children and youth after digital panoramic radiography and low-dose ionizing radiation.
Methods: Thirty patients between 03-20 years old, male and female were randomly selected. Before and after 30 minutes of panoramic radiography the patients underwent to collecting of oral mucosa cells by scraping with a metal spatula. The RNA of 13 patients cells was extracted using Trizol protocol procedures and real-time PCR (qPCR).
Results:The results indicate that measurement by qPCr antioxidant enzyme (p
<0.05) were able to see an increase in the expression of Prx1 in the epithelial cells of the oral mucosa of children and youth after digital panoramic radiography.
Conclusions: Digital panoramic radiography is able to increase the expression of Prx1 collected in epithelial cells of the oral mucosa, indicating the effect of radiation at the celular level.
