Artist Statement
I'm fundamentally a digital immigrant and most certainly rooted in the analogue world but I love
exploring, experimenting and making things with technology. I’m most often found hacking through
the post-internet landscape while attempting to find ways of engaging with new (and old) technologies
and trying to make this a meaningful experience. I have been involved in a number of significant
collaborative partnerships, projects, workshops and exhibitions; working with others is central to my
practice but I also value the studio and the creative solitude it brings with it.
I’m currently working on a number of projects that have developed out of an artist residency with
Sense Scotland and the Arches where I worked with young people with sensory impairments and
communication support needs to produce creative, interactive experiences encompassing music,
performance and technology. I’m a founding member of the collective group Eastern Surf with whom I
have been involved in a number of public works and performances. In past years I have toured the
Outer Hebrides in a DIY mobile cinema, constructed neo-medieval projector wielding knights,
attempted to manifest elements of the vernacular web in real space and reconstituted the desktop GUI
as a cinematic spectacle.
