CAREER OBJECTIVE
I am young, energetic, dynamic and enthusiastic doctor, who aspires high and wants to
achieve the best in the field of ophthalmology through hard work and sincerity. I would
like to devote myself to the service of human being by serving the community with the
skills acquired and knowledge gained through my education.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION

M.B.B.S. from GMC MIRAJ MAHARASHTRA.

M.S(OPHTHALMOLOGY) from GMC YAVATMAL,MAHARASHTRA.

F.P.O.S.(Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus)(18 months) from
Aravind Eye Hospital,Coimbatore,Tamilnadu.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

I worked as a SENIOR RESIDENT for one year and four months in Aravind Eye
Hospital,Coimbatore, Tamilnadu. Aravind Eye Hospital is a tertiary care referral center in
India, recognized by the National Board Of Examinations(NBE) in New Delhi and the Royal
College of Ophthalmogists , London for Basic Specialist Training (BST).It is a World Health
Organisation (WHO) collaborating center for prevention of blindness.My surgical exposures
during this stint had strong emphasis on cataract surgeries like small incision cataract extraction
and phaco-emulsification with I0L implantation in both venturi and peristaltic machines. Till
date I have done around 2,500 cataract surgeries.

I was posted on deputation to Sudarshan Netralaya, Amreli, Gujarat for 5 months.

SURGICAL AND CLINICAL SKILLS
1.CATARACT MICROSURGERIES:
I have done thousands of cataract microsurgeries in last few years.

I am very much comfortable in doing temporal clear corneal phacoemulsification
with foldable intraocular lens implantation.

I am able to perform all the techniques of phaco e.g.Divide and conquer; Stop
and Chop;Direct chop;Horizontal and Vertical chop.

Got special interest in doing complicated cataract surgeries e.g. Traumatic
cataract;subluxated cataract;Cataract in small pupil with posterior
Synechiae;Cataract with Pseudoexfoliation;Hypermature cataract;Intumuscent
cataract.

Successfully doing Subluxated cataract Surgery with use of CTR (capsular
tension ring)
2. PEDIATRIC CATARACT MICOSURGERIES:
As we all know that pediatric cataract surgery is different and difficult than adult
surgery,I had wide experience of doing this cases during my fellowship.

I am very much comfortable in doing anterior capsulorhexis.

I follow the technique of doing posterior capsulorhexis with anterior
vitrectomy after placing intraocular lens .

I have even operated on childrens between 3 to 8 months of age.

During my fellowship I got chance to operate complicated cataract e.g.post
TPPV Cataract, Traumatic Cataract,Membranous cataracts(partially absorbed
cataract).

I have done secondary IOL implantations with membranectomy too.
3.STRABISMUS SURGERY:

I did my fellowship under DR.KALPANA NARENDRAN(Chief Pediatric
Ophthalmology and Strabismus,Aravind Eye Hospital, Coimbatore,Tamilnadu)

During my fellowship I acquired good clinical knowledge and skill of doing
preoperative workup of a squint patient.

I have experience of doing horizontal muscle surgeries for Esotropia and
Exotropia.

I have even done oblique muscle surgeries for A-V pattern strabismus and
Congenital Superior oblique palsy.

Got special interest in doing Muscle transposition Surgeries.

4.GLAUCOMA DIAGNOSIS & MANAGEMENT:

During my tenure in Aravind eye hospital, I got chance to learn glucoma from Dr.
P. Sathyan (Chief Glaucoma Consultant, Coimbatore).

During my deputation in Sudarshan Netralaya in Amreli,Gujrat, I also got chance
to learn glaucoma from Dr. Pandurang Nikam (presently working as a
phacomicro surgeon and glaucoma consultant at SUDARSHAN
NETRALAYA,AMRELI,GUJARAT).
5.CORNEA:

I have done many Pterygium Excision with Conjunctival Autograft
transplantation with suture.

I got special interest and skill to repair Corneal Tear and to manage anterior
segment trauma cases with unexpectedly good result.

I have sound knowledge for treating Corneal Ulcers and Dry Eye Syndrome.
6.ORBIT AND OCULOPLASTY:

I have done probing and syringing for Congenital Nasolacrimal Duct
Obstruction under GA.

I have done many Dacryocystectomy (DCT) operations.

I have done Eyelid tear repair.

I have observed few cases of Entropion and Ectropion corrections surgeries.
7.LASER PROCEDURES:

I have done many Nd:Yag laser Capsulotomy and Nd:Yag laser Peripheral
Iridotomy.

AREAS OF INTEREST
As mentioned above I have done almost all varieties of ophthalmic surgeries except
retina but my interest is in Cataract Microsurgeries and pediatric cataract surgeries;
Strabismus surgeries and Glaucoma diagnosis and management.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMMES AND OTHER EYE CARE
AWARENESS ACTIVITIES
Community outreach programmes are one of the major activities of Aravind Eye Care
System in reaching out the community. Through free eye camps, medical teams from
hospital reach patients in rural area. The team works closely with local community
leaders and service groups to organize the camps.
Apart from cataract screening camps, eye screening in schools, refraction camps in
industries have also been organized regularly. I personally took interest and actively
involved in various steps of conducting camps as well as maintaining good relations
with sponsers.During a stay of 3 years in Aravind Eye Hospital I have attended
more than 100 cataract screening camps.
