Publicity Officer (Regions)

Location:
Butterfly Conservation’s Head Office at East Lulworth, Dorset
Salary:
£22,723 - £26,958 pa (Grade C) plus 5% pension contribution

Job Purpose:

Coordinate and generate regional press coverage working with Butterfly Conservation Branches
and regional staff.
Specific Tasks:
1.
Coordinate regional press across the UK.
2.
Act as point of contact for Branch Publicity Officers.
3.
Build and develop contacts with key regional media outlets.
4.
Write, source, and distribute regional press releases and pictures; download regional coverage.
5.
Handle regional press requests.
6.
Develop dependable regional spokespeople.
7.
Implement key BC media projects across the regions in line with HQ.
Technical/Specialist skills:
1. Previous experience as a Journalist or Press Officer, preferably in environmental sector
2. Working knowledge of social media

PERSON PROFILE
Job Title: Publicity Officer (Regions)
Technical/Specialist Skills
Educated to A level or equivalent experience
Relevant qualification or experience in journalism, public relations or
marketing.
Administration and organisational skills in an office environment
Computer literate: able to use IT applications, including databases,
spreadsheets, word processing and the internet
Experience of writing media articles and/or press releases
Experience of print production and proofreading/copy-editing

Place of work:
Butterfly Conservation’s Head Office at Manor Yard, East Lulworth,
Wareham, Dorset, BH20 5QP.
Salary:
£22,723 - £26,958 pa (Grade C) for a suitably qualified and
experienced person.
Pension:
Butterfly Conservation will pay a sum equivalent to 5% of your salary
into a Stakeholder Pension Scheme with Aviva.
Probationary Period:
This post is subject to a six-month probationary period.
Duration:
Established post.
Hours:
Full time 37 hours per week, but working will be flexible and may
include some evening and weekend work. Time-off-in-lieu will be
allowed for all overtime worked.
Annual Leave:
The annual leave entitlement for the first full year of full-time
employment is 23 days per annum plus statutory public holidays.
