GATEHOUSE GOLF CLUB
Information for first time visitors to the Course.
Items shown in red are included for safety reasons and should be observed by all players.
We hope you enjoy your visit to our club and that you will return when next in Gatehouse.
The following notes are designed to help you to find your way. Some of the holes require
blind shots; please ensure the way ahead is clear before taking your shot.
Gents and lady visitors please play off the YELLOW Tees; juniors from the BLUE Tees.
Tee shots on all the par 3s should not be played until the players in front have reached the
next tee.
1st Hole. The tee is up the path from the clubhouse. Aim for the white marker post.
Raise the red flag when you reach the green and lower it when leaving to indicate to those behind that the
green is clear.
2nd Hole. Follow the path up from the 1st green. The tees lie beside the 7th Green. The line
of the hole is to your right. The marker post provides the best line. Your next shot is over
the hill and down a steep slope to the green.
Please walk to the top of the hill to ensure the green is clear before taking your shot. Please ring bell when
you have finished the hole to inform players behind that you have cleared the green.
3rd Hole. The men’s yellow tee is to the left of the 2nd green. The tee shot over the marker
post is a blind shot. The ladies’ yellow tee is at the top of the hill.
Make sure the players in front have reached the 4 th tee, which is up to the right, before playing your shot to
the green.
4th , 5th & 6th Holes. These are straightforward holes with spectacular views of the Isle of
Man and the Mull of Galloway from the 4th & 5th Tees.
The 3rd shot on the par 5 6th hole is a blind shot. Please be aware of players to your right who are walking
down the 7th tee.
7th Hole. When leaving the 6th green the 7th tee is ahead up the hill with the green lying in
the hollow down to you right.
Please be aware of players on the 6th green when taking your tee shot. For those players attempting to
drive the green ensure players in front have reached the 8th tee, which is beside the black shed over to your
left from the tee, before hitting off.
8th Hole. From the 7th Green walk towards the black shed to the right of the 2nd fairway.
The tees are in front of it.
Please be aware of players on the 9th tee before hitting off.
9th hole. Very simple!! The flag can be seen from the yellow tee. Over the wall to the left is
out of bounds.
If your tee shot veers to the right it may hit players on the 1st tee. There is a red safety marker post on the
1st tee visible from the 9th tee. Shout “FORE” to warn players about to tee off.
Please be aware of players entering the course and avoid teeing off until the path is clear. The path to the
green is quite steep and care must be taken..
If playing 18 holes follow the path down to the 9th Green and then make your way via the
Clubhouse to the 10th tee.
All Players should be familiar with The Rules of Golf, Section 1, Behaviour on the Course –
Safety.
Enjoy your game!
