Ellen Finley Earhart DEPARTMENT OF NURSING Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing Application Checklist 1 Introduction Admission to Park’s nursing program is competitive; therefore, meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. General admission to the University does not admit a student to the baccalaureate degree program in nursing. Admission decisions for the pre-licensure baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) program are based on cumulative GPA for all completed coursework with consideration given to the overall admission packet. Weighted consideration is given to prerequisite coursework in Anatomy and Physiology, Chemistry, and Microbiology as these courses are highly predictive of success in nursing coursework. Patterns of repeated coursework, time gaps between coursework, and course failures are also considered during the admission process. Initial approval for the BSN degree at Park University has been awarded pending a site visit in July of 2016 by the Missouri State Board of Nursing. The BSN program at Park University is pursuing initial accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, One Dupont Circle, NW, Suite 530, Washington, DC 20036, (202) 887-6791. Applying for accreditation does not guarantee that accreditation will be granted. Graduation from the program does not guarantee eligibility to take the RN licensure examination. Eligibility to take the RN licensure exam is at the discretion of the Missouri Board of Nursing. The Department admits two cohorts for the BSN pre-licensure program annually, fall and spring (RNs may apply to the online BSN completion program at any time). Pre-licensure BSN and LPN-to-BSN application due dates are as follows • Fall 2016 cohort only: May 1, 2016 • Spring 2017 cohort only: October 1, 2016 • Fall 2017 cohort and beyond: February 1 • Spring 2018 cohort and beyond: September 1 All applicants for the pre-licensure BSN at Park University who meet the minimum published criteria (see Admission Requirements on the Nursing Department website) are encouraged to apply by 5:00 p.m. on the stated deadlines above. 2 Application Checklist Please complete the following before 5 p.m. on the due date for your desired starting semester: 1.
