Sermon 24 The Impartiality of God At times of testing and waiting for the fulfilment of God, it is good to remind ourselves that the God we serve is impartial. When you see others receiving the blessings of God and walking in them, do not dwell on the fact that yours has not yet arrived. Instead thank God because it’s yours too. What God has done for others He will do for you. There are several places in the Word where we see the impartiality of God declared plainly. This also goes with one of His key attributes of being just. One of the most reassuring truths to rest on whatever you are going through at the expense of others is that God is always fair. He truly is. It doesn’t feel like it at the time when you’ve suffered wrong but you see the Lord dealing with things sometimes months later or a year later. To us it looks like nothing’s happened and that the enemy is getting away with it. However, the truth is that long before we see the justice of God on the surface, He has already started working. He cannot do anything against His nature. Acts 10:34-35 (KJV) 34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: 35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. 1. God doesn’t judge by race or class Peter says these words after he has received a vision of different animals and meats to eat which before he would never have eaten because of Jewish laws. He is told not to uncommon what God has cleansed. This filters through to the way he is to treat Gentiles (people who were not born of Israel). He gets the revelation that God is not a respecter of persons. He doesn’t think that one race of people is superior to the other. He doesn’t think people born of noble birth are better than those outside that worldly class. If He has cleansed someone then they are just as righteous as the next person. As Christians we are not to feel inferior. Whatever nation we are from we are celebrated as God’s servants. He calls people from every tribe, tongue and nation. 2. God doesn’t see you as a special case Because of negative patterns or attacks it can be tempting to feel as if our case is different and that things could never change. Or maybe people have just tried to tell you that “That’s just the way you are”. Don’t buy it. The truth is that if it’s in the Word of God as a blessing, then it’s yours. If you see your brothers and sisters in Christ with something you want, then rest assured that it’s yours too! Celebrate with those who are getting victories knowing that you too have your own. Matthew 22:16 (KJV) 16 And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men. 3. Jesus doesn’t change His message to suit These religious people observed about Jesus that He was not partial. He didn’t change His message to suit people. He told the plain truth whoever confronted Him. He didn’t show one face to a certain set of people and then pull another face for a different set of people. Jesus was consistent. He always treated people equally. 4. We can trust God because He is fair. Proverbs 16:11 (KJV) 11 A just weight and balance are the LORD'S: all the weights of the bag are his work. Proverbs 11:1 (AMP) 1 A FALSE balance and unrighteous dealings are extremely offensive and shamefully sinful to the Lord, but a just weight is His delight. A just weight is His delight. The desire to be fair which actually operates in the secular world in the courts, law enforcement agencies, universities, schools originates from God. To say that these institutions need to be fair and then expect to do unjustly ourselves in our private lives or in other spheres is inconsistent and ungodly. Proverbs 18:5 (KJV) 5 It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment. Proverbs 21:15 (KJV) 15 It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity. These verses show us that God doesn’t like it when we accept the wicked in place of the righteous. Showing partiality to those who are wrong is the opposite of what God does. People who do what is right derive a strong sense of satisfaction over doing justice. In life there will be occasions when we will be tempted to do what is wrong because it suits us or because there is a privilege for us. However, this is not Godly. God promises to destroy the workers of iniquity. Do you believe with your whole heart that God is fair? Get this settled in your heart. It will help you stand strong when adverse situations or opponents come on to your path. If you will keep coming back to the fact that God is fair you will be at ease with your enemies. Have you accepted that in God’s sight you are completely accepted as you are, whatever race or background you are from? Are you just, impartial and fair? If not then ask God to take partiality away from you by placing it on the cross of Jesus as one of the sins Jesus paid the price for. Hallelujah!
