Lenten Promises made…
What are yours?
Crowned as our
Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome back to the second half of the Spring Term. It was strange to be off when
all other Local Authorities were in but it did mean some bargain holidays were to be
had and attractions were quiet.
Star Pupils
this week
This week, on Ash Wednesday, the children took part in a Service and received the
sign of the cross in ashes on their forehead. They have all made Lenten promises
which are displayed in the hall and corridor on crosses. Some children have pledged
to be good at home or help with jobs. It may be worth asking them what their Lenten
promise is so it is adhered to!
Reception
Station of the Cross. Thursdays in Lent 8.45am
Each year I lead a short Stations of the Cross service for children and any parents
who wish to join in. Each Thursday I focus on 3 stations and children read short
prayers and medications.
Year 2
A visit to Kimberley’s Tea Rooms for Pancakes. Tuesday 17 th February
Cookery Club and a group of Mrs Pickford’s class (who didn’t attend the cake baking
session) enjoyed their pancakes. As always they were very well behaved and polite!
Bike-Ability Course for Y6
Congratulations to all children who took part – you passed! Use the skills you have
learnt to keep yourself safe riding your bike!

Have a Heart Day - The PFA would like to thank you for all your support. The day was
a great success and raised lots of money for the British Heart Foundation. The fair
raised £377 and the sponsored event so far has raised £143. If you have any
remaining sponsorship money at home then please send into the school office as
soon as possible. The Have a Heart Day Quiz was won by Samantha Tootell-Ellis
with second prize going to Debbie Keelan - well done ladies you clearly know your
Valentine’s day general knowledge. If you haven't done so already, please collect
your prizes from the office.
Gabriel won the” Guess how many feathers on a feather boa” - apparently it was 700!
The winning posters were created by Loretta, Callum, Hannah & Kieran. All will
receive a prize.
KS1 Dance Performance. Friday 27th February 2.45pm in Hall
We will end next week watching our KS1 children entertaining us with their latest
Dance moves. Parents are very welcome to come and watch their show. I am sure it

Parents’ Evenings: Tuesday 24th and Thursday 26th February.
Don’t forget to return your appointment request form if you have not already done
so. We do expect you all to attend the meetings as it is important to know your
child’s progress and how you can support them too. If you are unable to attend either
meeting, please contact the school office or make an arrangement with your child’s
teacher when you pick up your child at the end of the day.
Reminders:
World War 1 Memorabilia.
The fantastic collection of photos and World War 1 memorabilia that was brought in
by children in now stored in my office ready to be returned. You are also welcome to
the photographs in frames that Adrian Lambert took of your child with their
ancestor’s picture.
Rather than sending these home in your child’s bag as the frames have glass panes
in, please collect from my office.
