Your Customized Eyelid and Dry Eye Therapy
Blepharitis (eyelid inflammation/disease) is a very common eye condition. It is associated with an
overgrowth of bacteria in the lids and lashes. Bacteria produce toxins, acids, and soaps -which can cause
dryness, burning, redness, and scarring of the eyelids and eyes. Blockage of oil glands can lead to styes.
Dead cells from blepharitis can become a food source for mites (Demodex), leading to chronic disease.
A careful evaluation of your eyes & eyelids has helped us establish a customized therapy to treat your
lids; please perform the following circled treatments in the order below:










Apply a hot compress to the closed eyelids. Specialized masks maintain the proper temperature
(comfortably hot - not scalding!). Heat helps to thin oils, improving flow & keeping glands open.
Do this ____ time(s) per day / week for ____ minutes ... immediately after the hot compress:
With a gentle side-to-side motion, massage the upper & lower eyelids to help pump out the oils.
Do this for 15 seconds (each) for upper and lower lids immediately after the hot compress.
Cleanse eyelids with the following foam cleanser (using cotton ball, gauze pad, or clean fingers):
- Ocusoft Lid Scrub Original: this removes debris from the eyelids (rinse off with warm water)
- Ocusoft Lid Scrub Plus: this is antibacterial and can be left on or rinsed off after 1 minute
- Ocusoft Plus Platinum: this is antibacterial and anti-inflammatory and should be left on
- Ocusoft Oust: this is to kill Demodex mites and is designed to be left on
Use the foam cleanser ____ time(s) per day / week.
Apply HypoChlor gel to the eyelid margins (with clean fingers) to provide a barrier vs. infection.
Do not rinse HypoChlor off after applying. Use HypoChlor gel _____ time(s) per day / week.
Wipe eyelid margins, eyebrows, and skin around eyes and cheeks with Cliradex pad. Do not rub
aggressively, as the chemicals in Cliradex can irritate. Use ____ times per day / week..
Use the following lubricant eyedrops for increased eye health and comfort ____ times/day:

Periodic "deep cleaning" of your eyelids can be done in-office for severe build-up of plaque.
