How to Ask The Right Questions To Improve Sales
(ABO Approved)
Sponsored by Essilor
Diane F. Drake, LDO, ABOM, FCLSA
As the eyecare and eyewear delivery system has evolved over recent years, it has become more
challenging to satisfy all of the needs of the consumer. Consumers have become increasingly more
aware of the many products that are available to them, and with that awareness, has come great
confusion. Being able to ask the right questions helps to narrow down choices, and ensure that the
consumer, your patient, is satisfied with their eyewear purchase. Greater satisfaction on your
patient’s part improves sales and profitability on your part. Discussion will include what
questions to ask in order to narrow down choices for your patients, and make them more satisfied
and how this will improve your bottom line.

Enhancing Patient Care Through the Implementation of EHRs
Sponsored by the AOA
(Joint session with ODs)
Electronic Health Records (EHRs) hold the potential to transform health care. The use
of interoperable health information technology (HIT) can benefit both individuals and the
health care system as a whole in profound ways. There is overwhelming evidence that
standards-base use of secure EHRs can improve patient care and increase practice
efficiency. Substantial government incentives are now being offered for EHR
implementation. EHR systems will be required for pay-for-performance/quality reporting
programs. It is imperative that optometrists be well informed regarding EHR selection
and implementation.
As part of the AOA Electronic Health Records Preparedness Program, this EHR course
is intended to serve as the optometrist’s primary HIT resource, with the most current
information on the implementation of EHRs in the practice setting, case management
using EHRs, E-prescribing, PQRI and the most up-to-date information on federal
regulations/requirements.
