Welcome to Carstairs Gymnastics. Carstairs Gymnastics is a non-profit organization that provides fun, quality gymnastics classes to children of all ages. We are looking forward to another exciting season. We hope you and your children have fun and enjoy participating in gymnastics this year. Periodically we will have information for you and new this year we will be trying to send it to you through email. Please make sure that we have a correct email address for you and notify us if it should change. We will still have a few copies at the gym but in order to save costs and paper we will not be handing notices out to every child. There are a few rules and regulations that you need to be aware of, so please read on and if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE ARE NO CLASSES ON STATUTORY HOLIDAYS
At Carstairs Gymnastics we have an open door viewing policy. Observers are welcome to watch at all times from the boot room area. We kindly ask that parents and siblings do not go on the equipment due to insurance policies and safety issues. Please remove your shoes out in the lobby and put them on the racks provided in order to keep the gym clean.
There will be no make-up classes to anyone who cannot attend their scheduled class. If Carstairs Gymnastics cancels a class due to illness or facility bookings we will do our best to provide a make-up class.
When there is an event booked in the Hall we are required to take down our equipment for the weekend and put it back up for the following week. In order to do this we require parents to help out. Performance families are asked to help out 2 times per year at a minimum. Please note that if unexpected dates occur we will call upon the performance families to help out if possible.

DESCRIPTION
The performance groups are non-competitive groups of girls & boys who represent the Carstairs Gymnastics Club at various events throughout the year. The kids will train twice weekly working at their own individual pace on badge skills and learning individual routines. These kids will have the opportunity to participate in fun meets (individual performances) as well as group events such as school/community demonstrations. As this is a team we require a full commitment from September to May. There will be a year end wind up for all the groups. For the 2011/2012 season we will have 6 different groupings. The groups are determined by our
Head coach Heather and will be based on your child’s ability as well as age & may change throughout the year. For more information Please contact our Head Coach Heather at 403-608-8269 or carstairsgym@gmail.com
or check out our website www.carstairsgymnastics.com

COMMUNICATIONS
Communication is extremely important. Many events, such as performances and fun meets, are added to the schedule throughout the year. To avoid the time and commitment challenges of meetings and individual phone calls the following methods will be used for communicating Performance group information. It is the responsibility of the Athlete and Parent to stay informed.
2.1
Email will be used as our primary form of communication. It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure Carstairs
Gymnastics has a current email address on file.
Electronic communication will ensure we are sending out the same message to all, keep our costs down, and are faster and more efficient than a paper format. Our newsletter will also be sent via email this year.
The main contact email for Performance groups will be carstairsgym@gmail.com
2.2
BULLETIN BOARD
Information will be posted on Carstairs Gymnastics bulletin board located in the front entrance.
3.
FUN MEETS AND PERFORMANCES
3.1 PERFORMANCES
Throughout the year, the performance groups may be asked to perform at certain events, including school assemblies, pumpkin fest, neighbourhood party, Beef & Barley Days Parade etc.
Performances are usually scheduled on weekends or over lunch hours. Details about time and location will be provided ahead of time.
3.2 FUN MEETS
The Performance groups will have the opportunity to participate in Fun Meets. These meets are usually 2-4 hours long, and are in different small cities throughout central Alberta, and occasionally in Edmonton or Calgary. This year we will be hosting our 2 nd Annual fun meet in April/May. Everyone will be required to participate and parents will be required to assist in the running of the meet.
