Master Courses for Exchange Students IDE

Master Packages – Industrial Design Engineering
Exchange students who have finished at least 3 years of bachelor education in industrial design
engineering are admissible to the 1st year courses of our MSc degree programs.
You can only prove your study progress by submitting grade transcripts of your home institution.
These transcripts should state the name of the course, the grade and the credits obtained. Without
these transcripts you cannot enter any master course (this is part of the application procedure).
The faculty of Industrial Design Engineering offers three different master programs: Integrated
Product Design, Design for Interaction and Strategic Product Design (check
www.ide.tudelft.nl/international for general descriptions of each program). All master courses are in
English and require a high level of English language ability.
For Master Package 1 and 2 – Integrated Product Design and Design for Interaction, admission is also
based on a portfolio (in some cases you sent already a portfolio then there is no need to send one
again).
Exchange students have to choose one of the Master Packages listed below. In all programs there is
space for one or two elective course(s). See list of Electives ; please make sure that you take the
elective in the Quarter it is scheduled for. For example in Master Package 1 and 2 you need an elective
in Q3. In Master package 3 you have to choose electives in Q4. Please choose not more than 4
electives and choose them in order of preference.

As you can see in the above Master packages there is space for elective courses. (Please take a look at
the Study guide for the course descriptions, by clicking on the course codes! You can also choose courses
from other Masters packages as an elective (with the exception of the projects ID4355 and ID4256)
Most ID5… elective courses are for small groups of students and have a limited number of places. Many
students want to follow these courses. Places are allocated by lot (compare this to a lottery). Sometimes
admission is based on portfolio and/or a letter of motivation. You can choose 4 electives (make sure you
also choose a course with no limited places). Also it needs to fit into the schedule and this is not really
easy for you to find out. Probably later I can send you a list of courses that fit into the master program.

Language Courses – Delft University of Technology
English
TU Delft offers several English language courses to students. These courses can be taken as an elective.
All courses are semester courses, which means they start in September and February. Students must sit
a placement test before participating in any English course. This way we can establish which course and
which level is most suitable for you.
Placement tests are generally scheduled for the week before the start of a course, but can also be
arranged the first week of your arrival.
