Concussion Information:
Concussion, a type of traumatic brain injury, is caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head. Concussions can also
occur from a blow to the body that causes the head and brain to move quickly back and forth—causing the brain to
bounce around or twist within the skull.
Signs and symptoms of concussion generally show up soon after the injury. But the full effect of the injury may not
be noticeable at first. For example, in the first few minutes the athlete might be slightly confused or appear a little bit
dazed, but an hour later he or she can’t recall coming to the practice or game. Any athlete suspected of suffering a
concussion should be removed from competition and should not return unless evaluated by a licensed health care
provider and has received written clearance from that provider to return to compete.
You should repeatedly check for signs of concussion and also tell parents what to watch out for at home. Any
worsening of concussion signs or symptoms indicates a medical emergency.

Rules and Guidelines
These are general guidelines for the tournament. Some rules may change depending on the circumstances, but any changes will be made
aware at the time of the tournament.
Empty hand Kata/Forms
It is the responsibility of the competitor to make sure there is enough space for their kata/form. If more space is required, all
accommodations will be made within reason, and should be requested of the leading judge. Kata/forms will be judged on criteria of
technique, balance, focus, motions, position, posture and poise. Kata/forms will not be judged on difficulty or correctness of the pattern.
When starting your kata/form it will be required to announce the following;

Kata/forms are designed to show you fighting multiple opponents, so it is important to show of strong technique, snap, targeting, since of
eye contact, balance and breathing.
Weapons Kata/Forms
WKF’s will be judged on the same criteria as open hand kata/forms. In addition, WKF’s will be judged on control of the weapon(s). It
will be required to present the weapon to the judges for inspection prior to your kata/forms to the leading judge; this is the safety of
others involved. If the weapon being used is considered unsafe by the lead judge, that competitor will be given time to find a replacement
weapon. During their kata/form if a competitor drops their weapon they will be allowed to complete the kata/form; however that
kata/form will not be scored.
Demo teams
Demo teams will be judged on team participation. If more space is required, it is up to the team captain to communicate with the lead
judge. Once the demo team starts and more room is required the team will be allowed to finish, but a score will not be given. Demo teams
will be judged on the following criteria of technique, balance, focus, motions, position, posture and poise.

Judging
Each sparring section will have a minimum of 3 judges, one center and two corners, black belt will have 4 judges. It will be required to
be required of the center judge to inform them to move, back and forth to have a better view; don’t just stand at the corner. Honor
merits of the judges, is that if you have a student fighting, we ask you to be bias or remove yourself from that particular fight, this way no
