St Stephen's AIDS Trust and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital offer training towards the Diploma of
the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health (DFSRH) as well as Letters of Competence in
Subdermal Implant Techniques (LoC SDI) and Intrauterine Techniques (LoC IUT).

Training costs:
Course of 5:
Five one hour sessions done in small groups
Delegate fee: £300
Diploma
Diploma training usually consists of 6 clinical skills sessions held in Family Planning Clinics run by
Faculty Registered Trainers across the 3 main sites of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. This will
equip the learner with the evidence based knowledge, attitudes and skills required to consult with a
woman requesting contraception. Candidates who do not satisfactorily complete the requisite
assessments in the allocated time may be required to attend further sessions at additional cost.
Candidates will be invited to attend one (or two) sessions a week in a consecutive block at either 56
Dean Street, John Hunter Clinic or West London Centre for Sexual Health.
Fee for 6 sessions: £450
Letters of competence
Prior to attendance, trainees must provide evidence of completion of the eKA or DFSRH,
NDFSRH, MFSRH, FFSRH , e-SRH Module 18 - additional Training in Intrauterine
Contraceptive Methods (IUT), as well as current Basic Life Support and anaphylaxis
certificates. Please see the Faculty website for further information on training requirements.
Letter of Competence in Intrauterine Techniques (LoC IUT): Training will enable the learner to
appropriately provide intrauterine methods and manage complications and side effects. This usually
involves 3 or 4 sessions.

Letter of Competence in Subdermal Contraceptive Implant Techniques (LoC SDI): Training will
enable the learner to insert and remove contraceptive implants and to manage complications and
side effects. This usually involves 2 or 3 sessions.
