The type of work to expect and
learning opportunities
This post is general practice but with a
difference. We are a specialised GP Surgery in
elderly care looking after the varied care needs
of approximately 300 army veterans in a
thoroughly modern care centre, but within the
grounds of the Royal Hospital, Sir Christopher
Wren’s non-ecclesiastical masterpiece, a
stone’s throw from the King’s Road.
We offer you experience in the primary care
management of health of the elderly,
predominantly men, both in the GP surgery
setting but also on our long term nursing care
wards which include long term dementia care
beds. Much exposure to multiple morbidity,
CDM and polypharmacy management and EoL
care is on offer. Working closely with the
extended primary care team is possible since
we have on-site OT/physio/podiatry, nursing
and welfare, but also visiting consultants and
CMHT.
The surgery works within the local NHS and
opportunities for attending local NHS meetings
is plentiful.
There will be opportunity for audit and private
study work, and possibly research projects.
