History Summer Scholarship Application 2014 SCHOOL OF HISTORY, RSSS CASS SUMMER SCHOLARSHIP 2013-4 APPLICATION FORM The ANU School of History is pleased to announce that it will host a group of Summer Scholars from 2 December 2013 to 31 January 2014. E LIGIBILITY Outstanding undergraduate students in their 3rd, 4th or Honours year of year of study of a Bachelor degree in history are encouraged to apply. An academic transcript, a CV, and two academic references are required to support the application. Students from Australia and New Zealand are eligible to apply for a Summer Scholarship. A H ISTORY S UMMER S CHOLARSHIP INCLUDES Return economy travel from a student's place of residence to Canberra; A contribution toward return travel costs home to cover the university stand down period between 24 December 2013 and 2 January 2014; Accommodation at an ANU residential college; Shared office space within the School of History; and a Fortnightly stipend of AUD$135. S UPERVISION Successful History Summer Scholars will be supervised by academic staff in the School of History. Available supervisors: Professor Angela Woollacott Dr Mark Dawson Areas of interest: Australian history; British Empire and postcolonial history; women’s and gender history; transnational history; whiteness and settler colonialism. Areas of interest: early modern Britain and Atlantic world; early modern English drama and literature; histories of social inequality and the body. Dr Alexander Cook Dr Nicholas Brown Areas of interest: Modern British and French history; history of political thought and political culture; commercial society; the Enlightenment; empire; public history; historical theory and method. Areas of interest: Australian twentieth century cultural, political and environmental history; Australian biography. Dr Kynan Gentry Dr Gregory Barton Areas of interest: Histories of heritage; perceptions and representations of the historic landscape; public history; digital history. Opportunity also exists to work on an existing project headed by Professor Angela Woollacott, entitled Frontier Violence and Comparative Colonial Frontiers in the 19th-20th Centuries.
