Chapter Annual Reports (CARs) were due on August 31 and are evaluated and used as criteria to
award the Walter R. Graalman award. Co-chairs Bill Swan and Jeannine Roso and team
completed their reviews as well as conducted requested debriefings after final rankings were
announced. 93 chapters qualified at some level for the Graalman award for their PY 2013-2014
activities. These awards will be presented at a ceremony following the Spring Chapter Leader
Summit. Mary Beth distributed guidance for the CARs and Graalman to current chapter leaders
in mid-February. The biggest changes for the program year will be submitting the list of new
officers and volunteers by May 15th, and submitting the balance of the required documents by
July 31st (up from Aug 31). Both Bill and Jeannine will be at the Spring Chapter Leader Summit
to be a resource and answer questions from those in attendance. The Graalman for PY 2015-2016
will continue to recognize chapters for how well they provide value to their members, how well
they connect NCMA to those members, and how effectively they operate their chapter.
The nomination period for the Arthur G. Muller Volunteer Award was extended to November
15, 2014, and seven (7) nominations were received. The review team, chaired by Holly Gregg,
selected Luisa Martinez-Medina, Rio Grande chapter as the award winner.
The group received four (4) nominations for the Blanche Witte Memorial Foundation Annual
Award. Shene Commodore led the review team and Crystal Glenn of the Tysons Corner chapter
was selected as the first place winner.
The group received four (4) nominations for the Excellence in Contract Management
Professionalism Award. Janet Mattson leads the review team and deliberations are currently in
process.
NCMA Past President Michelle Currier leads the joint review team for the Alvis Keen Honorary
Life award and the Charles Dana Distinguished Service award. The review team consists of
members of the awards and honors working group, CMLDP community, and members of
NCMA’s Board of Advisors. The team reviewed the list of eligible candidates and is in the
process of narrowing the list of winners.
Nominations for the NCMA Education Award are due March 1st. Laurie Davis will lead this
review team.
Nominations for the Outstanding Fellow Award are due March 1st. Cathy Dixon and Chris
Hitchcock will head this review.
To date, no nominations for the Herbert Roback Memorial Award have been received.
A major task the Awards and Honors Working Group has undertaken revolves around increasing
the awareness of the awards available within the NCMA. We as a Working Group, as well as the
NCMA as an entirety, have the responsibility to ensure our most deserving members are
receiving the recognition they deserve from their tireless efforts throughout their career in which
they have worked to not only make their individual chapter a success, as well as the entire
NCMA.

Board Brief 2015-23
Awards and Honors Working Group
As in the past, we would again like to ask for the Board’s help in making the NCMA Awards and
Honors Program that much better. We recognize that everyone is extremely busy and that time is
often in short supply. We would ask, however, that you take time to think of individuals that may
be deserving of recognition from your company, organization, or chapter and submit their
nomination to the Awards and Honors Working Group. Also, we would like to ask for your
feedback to let us know what we might do as a group to make this process easier for you to
submit nominations.
There is still a lot of work for the Awards and Honors Working Group to complete this Program
Year. We are eager and ready to continue the high quality of service provided to NCMA by this
Group over the past years.
Respectfully submitted,
Robert Jones, CFCM, CCCM
