BECOME A BSAR
(Barnard Student Admissions Representative)
The Office of Admissions is looking for current students to assist us in
recruiting the best young women for the future classes of Barnard! We hope
that you will take this opportunity to become involved with recruitment
efforts as a Barnard Student Admissions Representative.
Job Description: BSARs are both tour guides and office assistants, working anywhere from 1-6
hours per week. As tour guides they assist with both regular tours and special tours for oncampus events, and as office assistants they help manage the reception area(s) and aid
Admissions Staff in a variety of tasks. Student pay rates start at $8.50/hour.
Eligibility/Qualifications: A select number of BSAR positions are open to current first-years,
sophomores, and juniors. BSARs should possess strong organizational and communication skills
and an ability to represent the Admissions Office in a consistently enthusiastic and professional
manner. The position is designed for students in search of leadership roles who are committed to
and passionate about their role as an ambassador for our office.
Functions/Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the BSAR Coordinator, BSARs will be
expected to:

Work during one of the three academic breaks throughout the year (Winter, Spring,
and/or Summer break).

Work during the following on-campus events: Fall Open Houses, Spring Open Houses,
and Admitted Student events

Host a minimum of one (1) admitted student for both Open House programs

Maintain email communication with the BSAR Coordinator

Lead at least one (1) “special tour” per semester

to Danielle Jakob at djakob@barnard.edu or in hardcopy to the Admissions Office (111
Milbank) by Friday, December 21st. After your application has been reviewed, you may be
contacted for an interview. Please note that not all applicants are invited to be interviewed.
Interviews will be held in the evening on Wednesday, January 23rd and Thursday, January
24th.
