BECOME A BSAR (Barnard Student Admissions Representative) The Office of Admissions is looking for current students to assist us in recruiting bright young women for the future classes of Barnard! We hope that you will take this opportunity to become involved with recruitment efforts as a Barnard Student Admissions Representative. This year, we have two different types of BSAR positions available: Tour Guide BSAR and Social Media BSAR Please see descriptions of both and select which position you wish to apply for. Tour Guide Job Description: Tour Guide BSARs are both tour guides and office assistants, working anywhere from 1-6 hours per week. As tour guides they assist with both regular tours and special tours for on-campus events, and as office assistants they help manage the reception area(s) and aid Admissions Staff in a variety of tasks. Tour Guide BSARs will also assist with staffing on-campus events such as Open House and will host prospective students during our Fall and Spring Open House weekends. Student pay rates start at $8.50/hour. Social Media Job Description: Social Media BSARs are both bloggers and office assistants, working anywhere from 1-6 hours per week. As social media BSARs, they will write for our Barnard Admissions Blog at least twice a month, and as office assistants they help manage the reception area(s) and aid Admissions Staff in a variety of tasks. Social Media BSARs will also assist with staffing on-campus events such as Open House and will host prospective students during our Fall and Spring Open House weekends. Student pay rates start at $8.50/hour. Eligibility/Qualifications: The BSAR position is open to current first-years, sophomores, and juniors. BSARs should possess strong organizational and communication skills and an ability to represent the Admissions Office in a consistently enthusiastic and professional manner. The position is designed for students in search of leadership roles who are committed to and passionate about their role as an ambassador for our office. Tour Guide BSAR Applicants should display confidence speaking before and relating to large groups. Social Media BSAR Applicants should display strong writing skills. Other Functions/Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the BSAR Coordinator, BSARs will be expected to: Be available to work a minimum of four hours per week Work at least one weekend shift during both the fall and spring semesters Work during one of the three academic breaks throughout the year (Winter, Spring, and/or Summer break). Work during all on-campus events, including Fall Open Houses and Spring Open Houses Host a minimum of one (1) student for all Open House programs (one in the fall, two in the spring) Lead at least one (1) “special tour” per semester (Tour Guide BSAR) Post at least two blogs per month for our Barnard Admissions Blog (Social Media BSAR) Maintain consistent email communication with the BSAR Coordinator How to Apply: The BSAR application (available online at www.barnard.edu/admissions/connect/tour-guides) should be completed and returned via email to Brittany Dávila at bdavila@barnard.edu or in hardcopy to the Admissions Office (111 Milbank) by Noon on Tuesday, December 23rd.
