Project:
(.NET Web application) Analysis, feature development, update and maintenance of the main
projects of the company, Fiontar. Documentation, statistics analysis and reporting duties. The
projects are Irish Language web applications.
Technological environment:
TSQL, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, .Net 2008 Framework 3.5 (c#, ASP.NET, ADO,
JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, HTML, CSS, XML, IIS, reporting services), Windows Server, Python

These websites are high traffic sites based on large SQL Databases. The sites include an online
Irish Biography Collection ( Ainm.ie ), the official Irish/ English Place name collection ( Logainm.ie ),
an Irish Folklore Collection ( Duchas.ie ), a Terminology Collection ( Focal.ie ), and a collection of
European Laws translated into Irish ( Gaois.ie ).
I administered and developed for 5 Fiontar Websites, primarily using the Microsoft Suite and
Python, some of the features I have developed are:

Matching and connecting PlacenamesNI website database to Logainm.ie
Connecting Placenames and Biographies of related persons.
Set up of Test Domains and Test Databases for development.
Creation of program to parse and input data into databases according to Document Format
and Type.
Matching Ainm biographies to Royal Irish Academy Dictionary of Irish Biographies
Debugging and consolidating previous scripts.
Creation of stored procedures to track worker activity on internal sites.
Creation of python scripts to modify audio files.
Modifying scripts to ‘standardise’ old Irish collections.
Creation of RSS features for websites.
Modifying XML nodes in Folklore collection.
Adding Political Party tag to Political Parties mentioned in Biographies.

Final Year Project
For my final year project (Web Echo) I developed a PHP/jQuery application for an art installation
that searched the Internet for the meaning of certain words, for media or text that had been tagged
with the search phrase. Although the purpose of this project was academic in nature the
programming was considerable. I had to develop a system that grabbed Audio and text from
different online sources and bounce this result, the 'Echo' back at the user. This project helped me
develop my jQuery, UI and PHP skills.
I also consulted and developed for other websites while in college, mainly PHP and/or WordPress
based.
