GIRL SCOUTS – KENTUCKY’S WILDERNESS ROAD COUNCIL
FAYETTE-JESSAMINE DAY CAMP 2014
LOCATION:
Camp Shawano is 13 miles south of Lexington off Tates Creek Road. Directions will be sent after close of registration.
TIMES:
All Sessions run from 9:30 to 3:15. Arrive at camp between 9:15 and 9:30 and in the afternoon between 3:00 and 3:15.
Sessions have special units for the boys and younger girls of the staff. They will enjoy the same program as regular
campers according to their ages. The Pixie unit is for girls and boys ages 2-5. The Boys unit is for boys 6-11 years old.
EXTENDED DAY SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE FOR ALL SESSIONS. Campers may be dropped off at camp between
8:00 and 8:45 a.m. and picked up between 3:45 and 6:00. The fee for extended day services is an extra $25/week.
Please complete the extended day section on the registration form.
STAFF:
Unit Leaders: Fayette-Jessamine Day Camp is run entirely by UNPAID VOLUNTEERS, who are scout leaders, mothers
and friends. Staff training will be held at Camp Shawano. (See last paragraph for dates) A staff volunteer’s first child
attends day camp for free provided the volunteer works the entire session. Each additional child pays only $10. We
cannot have camp without a staff. Please complete the staff registration form and join us this summer.
Seniors/Ambassadors: Seniors may earn hours toward the Senior Leadership Award by serving as an assistant unit
leader. Girls must have completed 9th grade, attend staff training, and complete the Girl Application/T-shirt information
form and health history form. NO FEE. Girls must have attended Fayette-Jessamine Day Camp as campers.
Program Aide Cadettes: Cadettes who have completed 7th grade may apply for this position. Girls must attend staff
trainings and complete the Girl Application/T-shirt information and health history forms. NO FEE. Upon successful
participation in this unit, girls will earn hours toward Cadette Leadership Award. Girls must have attended FayetteJessamine Day Camp as campers.
All Teen Girls must turn in a physician-completed health form before the start of camp.
REGISTRATION:
Girls must register as individuals and complete a separate registration form for each session. ONLY ONE CAMPER PER
FORM WILL BE ACCEPTED. All forms are on-line only at www.fayettejessaminegirlscoutdaycamp.org All girls
registering for camp must be registered Girl Scouts.
Deadline: MAY 1, 2014. The number of girls accepted depends on how many volunteer unit leaders we have.
Camperships: Financial aid applications are available from the council office and should be turned in with the registration.
Checks: Make check payable to Fayette-Jessamine Day Camp. Checks must be included with registration form(s).
Cookie Dollars: Cookie dollars can be mailed separate from registration, but must be received before the session starts.

Refunds: Refunds are made only if illness is certified by a doctor.

T-shirts: Day Camp T-shirts are included in the camp fee. Staff pays $6 (see T-shirt section on staff form). The T-shirt is
the same for all sessions so if you plan to attend more than 1 session you will only receive 1 shirt. If you are in doubt of
sizing, order up. T-shirts are pre-ordered, so we cannot exchange. We cannot guarantee a T-shirt if you register past the
deadline.

Sessions are not all handled exactly the same, so please address any questions to one of the directors of the
session you are interested in. Email addresses are listed above.
FORMS REQUIRED: Registration, Health History, High Risk Form and Immunization Certificate.
Program Aides, Seniors and Ambassadors complete the girl registration and health history with parent
signature. THESE FORMS CAN BE FOUND AT www.fayettejessaminegirlscoutdaycamp.org.
Each Session will have the following units:
Daisy - $55: for Daisies who have completed Kindergarten or 1st grades. Girls will enjoy outdoor activities, arts
and crafts, with an overnight.
Brownie – $55: for Brownies who have completed 2nd grade. Girls will enjoy outdoor activities, arts and crafts,
with an overnight.
Fly-Ups - $55: for Brownies who have completed 3rd grade. Girls will work on Junior badges and general camp
activities, with an overnight.
Session I and III Juniors - $55: for Juniors who have completed the 4th and 5th grade. Girls will work on Junior
badges and general camp activities, with an overnight.
Session I and III Advanced Campers - $55: for Cadettes who have completed 6th grade. Girls will enjoy
advanced camp activities with an overnight.
Session II Juniors- $55: for Juniors who have completed the 4th grade. Girls will work on Junior Badges and
general camp activities, with overnight.
Session II Pioneer Advanced Unit - $60: for Juniors and Cadettes who have completed 5th and 6th grade.
Girls will enjoy advanced camp activities with overnights on Tuesday and Thursday night.
Session I all units will overnight on Wednesday.
Session II all units will overnight on Thursday night
Session III units will overnight on Wednesday
Boys/Pixies Unit - $10: this unit is ONLY for staff children. Pixies (girls and boys, ages 2-5) must be toilet
trained. Boys unit (ages 6-11) will enjoy the same program as regular campers according to their ages.
